Primary Function: The Purchasing Analyst is a vital member of the School Nutrition Department who manages the processes required to acquire goods and services, process invoices, track expenses, and mitigate loss in connection with the National School Lunch Program to ensure compliance and maximum profitability of the Muscogee County School District School Nutrition Program.

5. Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized routines; providing information and/or advising others; Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. 6. Working environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard free office environment, but occasionally involves exposure to a commercial kitchen.
This is a full-time position, eligible for benefits and overtime (over 40 hours per work week with prior approval). Typical working days are Monday – Friday.
7. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly in English; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions in English. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: common office machines; and office methods and practices.
SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; utilizing specialized software.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals. Significant problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is extensive. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; working with frequent interruptions; working as part of a team; maintaining confidentiality; being attentive to detail; meeting deadlines and schedules; adapting to changing work priorities. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25lbs; ability to sit for extended periods.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
2.
Serves as the primary staff member responsible for acquiring goods and services and processing invoices for the kitchens and School Nutrition Department within local, state, and federal guidelines for the purpose of ensuring the Department has what is needed to function properly and produce compliant meals.
3.
Creates various weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the purpose of monitoring the School Nutrition Department’s expenses and budget alignment.
4.
Verifies the accuracy of various information and data points from a variety of sources for the purpose of ensuring all reports from the School Nutrition Department are correct and compliant with all applicable guidelines.
5.
Develops and implements loss mitigation processes for the purpose of reducing the financial impact.
6.
Works with cross-functional teams, including vendors, MCSD Finance and IT Divisions, school-based and central office School Nutrition team members, and enterprise software providers, for the purpose of ensuring successful implementation of business processes, and initiatives.
7.
Assists with the bid and procurement processes for various goods and services for the purpose of meeting all applicable guidelines and receiving the best outcome for the department.
8.
Monitors and addresses vendor performance for the purpose of ensuring contractual obligations are satisfied, product availability meets industry standards and norms, price fluctuations are accounted for, and adjustments align with budgets.
9.
Audits, corrects, resolves discrepancies, and submits adjustments to all local, state, and/or federal reports for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy of the School Nutrition Department’s data.
10.
Participates in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial processes of the School Nutrition Department to ensure proper financial processes and accuracy of all financial reports.
11.
Collaborates with various entities to ensure financial processes and reporting are in alignment with best practices for the purpose of ensuring all areas within School Nutrition are able to accurately complete and submit financial reports and statements.
12.
Supports the various administrative functions and tasks of the School Nutrition Department’s Central Office for the purpose of smooth and efficient department operations.
13.
When needed, assist with all duties in the kitchens throughout the District for the purpose of supporting the needs and remaining abreast of the current practices in the kitchen.
14.
Regularly participates in training and reviews current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to job functions for the purpose of maintaining and increasing skills so work is performed at a high level of proficiency.
15.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
