ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Operate GTAW/GMAW welding apparatus to join parts that meet customer/internal weld specifications.
- Have a deep understanding of internal and customer weld standards and requirements.
- Understand GTAW/GMAW welder capabilities such that proper equipment is used based on welding requirements for each job.
- Accurately interpret dimensional blueprints\specifications including GD&T and metric or English measurements.
- Utilize precision measurement equipment, including micrometers, scales, calipers, and levels to ensure components meet specifications.
- Participate in GAP team – provide input on HSE issues/process improvements/problem solving Assist other prototype personnel with problem solving activities.
- Work with Supervisor and Gap Leader to improve throughput of area.
- Work with Supervisor and Gap Leader to improve overall level of safety in area.
- Work to implement/maintain FES processes and procedures in the Department.
- Fill out/Maintain any required documentation.
- Assist other prototype personnel with problem solving activities.
- Know, understand, follow, and instruct others on all applicable TS16949, ISO14001 and internal Faurecia policies and procedures.
- Maintain departmental housekeeping standards in the Department.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Requires the use of safety glasses, steel toe safety boots, Cut IV Sleeves, Cut IV gloves when handling parts and hearing protection when in designated areas. Additional PPE may be required as instructed on the Hazardous Material Identification System (HMIS) chart for specific activities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires an associate’s degree or higher in engineering or engineering technology and 5 years of related experience; or a high school diploma and 7-9 years or progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical specifications, professional journals, calibration records, blueprints and various related data. Ability to prepare reports and documentation. Ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as the fundamentals of algebra, geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Requires a valid driver’s license and forklift license.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Requires the ability to operate a variety of metal working equipment including presses, shears, brakes, rollers, and MIG/TIG welding equipment. Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment, such as a computer and keyboard, calculator, FAX, photocopier, telephone, cell phone, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, the risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is that found in a “normal” manufacturing environment; noise levels in the prototype shop are usually moderate, occasionally loud and hearing protection is required where posted. Work related travel is occasionally required in this position.
