We are currently accepting applications for a Sales Agronomist for our Farmers Cooperative Association (FCA) Agronomy Department. Founded in 1950, the FCA is a member-owned agricultural retail cooperative serving farmers and ranchers throughout the region.
The Sales Agronomist will be responsible for delivering professional agronomic insights and helping our patrons produce the highest yields possible through proven products, technology, and services. This team member will maintain long-term customer relationships and establish new ones.
Essential Functions, Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Determine local agronomy needs and create solutions
- Agronomy experience required; knowledge of agronomy operations and products essential
- Build relationships with customers that generate sales of seed, fertilizer, ag chemical, and agronomy services
- Develop and maintain a current list of customers and prospective customers
- Remain up to date on agronomic products, trends, problems, services, and resources
- Utilize tools such as precision farming and crop scouting to enhance customer satisfaction
- Recommend products and programs to producers within our credit and pricing policies
- Relay competitive sales, pricing, and marketing information to management
- Communicate with management about products being sold or prepaid and any product issues
- Collaborate with the Crop Production Manager and Agronomy Operations Manager
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as MSDS sheets and procedure manuals
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to assist with operations or in other departments when needed
- Thorough understanding of agriculture
- Ensure quality of agronomy products and services
- Communicate internally with staff and other FCA departments
- Collaborate with peers, co-workers, vendors, and internal and external customers
- Professional customer relations skills
- Professionalism in handling confidential matters and correspondence
- Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills
- Proficient technology skills
Education & Experience
A bachelor’s degree in agriculture or a minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
