We are seeking an experienced CAD Manager to lead the day-to-day operations, production, quality, standards, and technical direction of our CAD Department. This role oversees 3D CAD Modelers and CAD Technicians and serves as a key technical connection between clients, project management, engineering, survey, CAD production, and field operations.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical CAD and Civil 3D experience with leadership, organization, and a practical understanding of surveying and construction. You will help ensure that accurate, current, and field-ready project information moves efficiently from design and modeling through survey and construction.

Lead and coordinate the daily workload of the CAD Department, including assigning work, monitoring deadlines, and balancing scheduled production with urgent field needs.

Maintain ownership and version control of project CAD models, ensuring teams are working from current, approved information.

Oversee the development and maintenance of 3D construction models, surfaces, stakeout files, machine-control files, as-built models and drawings, shop drawings, and other digital project deliverables.

Establish and maintain efficient workflows between CAD personnel, survey crews, project management, engineering, and field operations.

Review models, surfaces, drawings, and field files for accuracy and quality before release.

Verify coordinates, elevations, units, datums, coordinate systems, project control, surfaces, and other critical model information.

Manage CAD updates resulting from design revisions, RFIs, change orders, approved revisions, and field changes.

Develop and maintain department-wide CAD standards, templates, file structures, naming conventions, and production procedures.

Provide technical leadership, training, mentoring, and troubleshooting support to CAD personnel.

Support Party Chiefs, Lead Surveyors, Superintendents, and other field personnel with models, surfaces, stakeout information, machine-control files, and other digital deliverables.

Troubleshoot CAD, survey, modeling, field-file, and workflow issues.

Coordinate directly with clients, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Survey Managers, and field personnel regarding CAD and digital deliverable requirements.

Evaluate new software, hardware, and technology that may improve productivity, accuracy, and field support.

Identify opportunities to standardize or automate repetitive CAD processes.

Help ensure lessons learned and process improvements are incorporated into future projects.
This position will oversee and support the development of a wide range of CAD and modeling deliverables, including:

Existing-ground, proposed-design, and working construction surfaces

Grading, roadway, utility, structure, and site models

Stakeout and survey point files
-
Machine-control models and files
-
Alignments and profiles
-
As-built models and record drawings

Shop drawings and construction exhibits

Earthwork and quantity information, when required

Significant CAD production experience, preferably within surveying, civil construction, heavy civil, site development, or a related industry.

Previous experience managing, supervising, or leading CAD personnel.

Strong 2D and 3D CAD experience.

Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications.

Experience developing and maintaining 3D surfaces and construction models.

Experience supporting survey and construction field operations.

Understanding of coordinate systems, datums, elevations, units, and survey control.

Strong understanding of construction workflows.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.

Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.

Advanced experience with Autodesk Civil 3D

Advanced experience with Trimble Business Center (TBC)

Total Station and data collector workflow experience

Earthwork and quantity calculation experience

Experience with heavy civil, transportation, industrial, commercial, or large-scale construction projects

The successful candidate will be a technical leader who understands that accurate CAD information directly impacts field production. You should be comfortable identifying potential problems before they reach the field, managing changing priorities, troubleshooting technical issues, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel.

This is a remote, full-time position. The CAD Manager must be able to effectively manage department operations and communication while working remotely. Reliable internet, availability during established business hours, timely communication, strong organization, and the ability to independently manage multiple projects and priorities are essential.
Success will be measured by the CAD Department's ability to consistently provide accurate, timely, organized, and field-ready information. Key areas include deliverable quality, schedule performance, model and revision control, field support, consistent CAD standards, reduced errors and rework, employee development, and overall department efficiency.
