Full Job Description

Position Summary

Growing distribution and manufacturing company located in the Greater Columbus area seeks an experienced Accounts Receivable & Credit Specialist. The Accounts Receivable & Credit Specialist is responsible for managing customer accounts, optimizing cash collections, evaluating credit risk, and supporting the company's working capital objectives. This role serves as a key liaison between customers, sales, customer service, and accounting to ensure timely collections, accurate account reconciliation, and effective credit management while maintaining positive customer relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable Management

Process and apply customer payments received via check, ACH, wire, lockbox, and credit card.
Maintain accurate customer account records and account balances.
Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, short pays, unapplied cash, and disputed invoices.
Reconcile customer accounts and prepare supporting documentation for account reviews.
Monitor customer aging reports and identify collection priorities.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to accounts receivable.

Collections

Contact customers regarding past-due invoices via phone, email, and written correspondence.
Collaborate with internal departments to resolve billing, pricing, freight, and customer service issues affecting collections.
Maintain detailed collection notes and account status updates.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of accounts receivable, credit, collections, or related accounting experience.
Experience in manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, or industrial environments preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong understanding of accounts receivable, credit, and collection practices.
Ability to analyze customer payment trends and credit risk.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP systems preferred.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
