Job Summary
AMAVI LLC is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide nursing services at its Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) on a contractor basis. The RN Contractor will deliver clinical nursing care to youth residing in the QRTP, ensure medication management and health monitoring, and contribute to the interdisciplinary treatment team consistent with the requirements of OAC 5122-30-32 and applicable Ohio nursing scope of practice. Nursing services must be available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, either on-site or via interactive videoconferencing, in accordance with QRTP standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Nursing Care
- Conduct health screenings, nursing assessments, and triage for youth upon admission and on an ongoing basis as clinically indicated.
- Monitor vital signs, physical health status, and behavioral/medical changes for all youth in the QRTP.
- Manage medications per physician or APRN orders, in compliance with Ohio Board of Nursing scope of practice and AMAVI’s medication administration policies.
- Maintain accurate medication administration records (MARs) and document all nursing interventions in the youth’s clinical record.
- Identify and respond to health emergencies; coordinate with emergency services and/or medical providers as necessary.
- Provide basic wound care, illness management, and follow-up on medical recommendations from external health providers.
Medication Management
- Receive, store, count, and document controlled and non-controlled medications per Ohio DEA and OhioMHAS requirements.
- Review and reconcile medication orders upon admission, transfer, and discharge.
- Educate youth and caregivers about prescribed medications, side effects, and adherence as appropriate to developmental level.
- Coordinate with prescribing providers (psychiatrists, APRNs, PCPs) regarding medication changes, concerns, and follow-up needs.
- Ensure medication supply continuity at discharge, including coordinating prescription transfers and providing complete medication lists to youth and caregivers.
Health Coordination & Discharge Planning
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, contributing nursing assessments and health-related recommendations.
- Coordinate scheduling and documentation of external medical, dental, and psychiatric appointments for youth.
- Contribute to discharge planning by identifying and communicating medical and medication-related needs for the aftercare plan.
- Facilitate warm handoffs to community medical providers at the time of discharge as clinically appropriate.
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete all nursing documentation accurately and within required timeframes, including admission health screenings, MARs, nursing notes, and incident reports.
- Maintain documentation in compliance with OAC 5122-30-32, AMAVI policies, Ohio Board of Nursing standards, and applicable accreditation requirements.
- Complete and maintain required reportable disease and incident documentation per Ohio law.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and health-related record reviews as requested.
Trauma-Informed & Family-Centered Practice
- Provide all nursing care utilizing a trauma-informed approach consistent with AMAVI’s approved trauma-informed treatment model and OhioMHAS requirements.
- Complete required trauma-informed care training within thirty (30) days of engagement and annually thereafter, per OAC 5122-30-32(B)(2).
- Engage youth and families respectfully and inclusively in all health-related discussions and care decisions.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems for accurate documentation of patient information, medical records, and coding (ICD-10/ICD-9).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Current, unrestricted Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- Minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience; experience in behavioral health, pediatric, or adolescent nursing strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a residential treatment, inpatient psychiatric, or QRTP setting preferred.
- Current BLS/CPR certification required; First Aid certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of engagement.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for efficient documentation and patient tracking.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, diagnostic evaluation, and pharmacology related to acute and chronic conditions.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles and family-centered treatment approaches.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments and patient education across diverse populations including pediatrics, adults with disabilities or developmental disabilities, seniors requiring long-term or memory care.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information and compliance with healthcare standards like NCQA standards.
- Ability to pass a background check in accordance with OAC 5122-30-31.
QRTP AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENT
Consistent with OAC 5122-30-32(B)(4)(c), nursing services must be available twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. This may be accomplished through on-site presence or via interactive videoconferencing, based on the youth’s clinical and/or medical needs. Interactive videoconferencing may not be appropriate for a youth in crisis at the facility. The contractor schedule will be structured in coordination with AMAVI to ensure continuous nursing coverage is maintained at all times.
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR STATUS
This position is engaged as an independent contractor and is not an employee of AMAVI LLC. The contractor is responsible for their own federal, state, and local taxes; professional liability (malpractice) insurance; and compliance with all applicable licensure and certification requirements. AMAVI LLC will not withhold taxes or provide employee benefits. The scope of services, schedule, and terms of engagement will be defined in a separate Independent Contractor Agreement.
The contractor must maintain an active RN license, current BLS/CPR certification, and professional liability insurance throughout the duration of the engagement.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Services are provided on-site at AMAVI’s QRTP residential facility, with on-call nursing support via telehealth/phone as operationally required.
- Position involves direct contact with youth in a residential behavioral health setting; may include exposure to behavioral crises and medical emergencies.
- Schedule, shift structure, and hours are negotiated between AMAVI and the contractor, consistent with 24/7 coverage requirements.
- Must be able to stand, move throughout the facility, and respond to emergency situations with physical agility as needed.

Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
