Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Construction Manager to lead and oversee single-family construction projects from inception to completion. In this vital role, you will coordinate all aspects of construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. Your leadership will drive project success by managing teams, contractors, and resources effectively while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.

Rockford’s Construction Managers are responsible for various communities and the progress of homes under construction on a regular basis. They should be able to complete the following tasks in addition to the tasks of an Assistant Manager and Punch Out Specialist:

Responsibilities

Runs projects in the +/- 1,000,000 range
Oversees multiple subcontractors
Works closely with inspectors
Sets agenda then arranges and attends meetings with inspectors/sales team/ buyers/ buyer’s representatives
Provides weekly updates to buyers/buyer’s representatives and provides responses to questions/concerns
Can visualize end product from plans
Recognizes problems and looks for direction on solving
Understands complete layout including grading/plot plan information
Is willing and able to make sensible decisions in the field without office backup
Can motivate crews to meet schedules and guide critical timelines
Is responsible for safety on the entire project
Proficiency with ECI Marks System.
Provides updates to the Production Manager in order to adjust manpower/equipment/activity procedures to maximize manhour/cost productivities.
Understands the intricacies of the sub-contractor’s work
Builds positive relationships with subcontractors and customers alike
Has full command of the inspector-superintendent relationship
Can handle independently, work and personal issues of employees under his/her direction
Is willing and able to train Punch Out Specialist
Resolves difficult customer and vendor concerns with guidance from management
Can do a full quantity take off on review of plan and/or site condition
Not only can he visualize the entire project but can assist with modifications to the designer’s plans to achieve greater efficiency and profitability.
Has basic understanding of estimating. Can estimate a price for a change order
Has basic understanding of project management techniques
Provides feedback to the Production Manager in order to adjust manpower/equipment/activity/procedures to maximize manhour/cost productivities

Compensation Range – Variable and based on experience

Previous experience in Single-Family Construction is REQUIRED with a minimum of 5 years of Construction Management experience
