Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resident Support Specialist to join our team in providing exceptional care and assistance to residents within our community. This vital role involves supporting individuals with diverse needs, including those experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and other high-risk populations. As a Resident Support Specialist, you will play a key part in fostering a safe, supportive environment by managing daily interactions, coordinating services, and ensuring resident confidentiality. Your energetic approach and commitment to social impact will help empower residents to achieve stability and well-being.

Responsibilities

Provide direct support to residents through case management, behavioral health interventions, and crisis de-escalation techniques.
Working with youths in a group home setting
Assist with intake processes, assessments, and ongoing documentation using Microsoft Office tools for accurate data entry and record keeping.
Implement behavior management strategies and conflict resolution methods to maintain a safe community environment.
Support residents with medication administration, first aid, CPR, manual handling, and other safety protocols as needed.
Collaborate with families, social workers, healthcare providers, and community organizations to coordinate services tailored to individual needs.
Conduct regular safety checks, security assessments, and ensure adherence to resident confidentiality policies.
Engage with culturally diverse communities and underserved populations to promote inclusion and equitable access to resources.

Qualifications

Supervising experience or demonstrated ability to lead or mentor others in a social work or supportive housing setting.
Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or from underserved communities.
Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—and excellent client engagement abilities.
Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, conflict management, behavioral health practices, and de-escalation methods.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with data collection, filing systems, and case management software is preferred.
Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, medication administration training, and familiarity with manual handling are highly desirable.
Ability to work effectively with youth and families in high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
