Job Summary

At Elumina Health we strive to do our BEST so that our clients can be their BEST. Our skilled home care agency is focused on providing high quality care and ensuring that the staff is equipped with the tools and skills to do just that! Elumina Health is a locally owned and operated agency in Columbus, Ohio and we are adding to our team due to growth!

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Human Resources Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our HR operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing HR initiatives that align with the organization’s overall business objectives, while fostering a positive and high-performing workplace culture.

The HR Manager will direct the daily functions of the Human Resources department, including employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, payroll oversight, and compliance. This role requires both hands-on execution and strategic leadership to ensure efficient HR operations and continuous improvement of processes and programs.

On a day-to-day basis, the HR Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, providing guidance on organizational development, workforce planning, and complex employee relations matters. They will lead the full employee lifecycle—from designing and overseeing recruitment strategies and onboarding programs, to driving performance management initiatives, leadership development, succession planning, and offboarding processes.

Additional responsibilities include developing and enforcing HR policies and procedures; leading or overseeing employee investigations and conflict resolution; ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws; and managing risk through proactive HR practices. The HR Manager will also analyze HR metrics and trends to inform decision-making, improve employee engagement, and enhance organizational effectiveness.

This role requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of handling sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of professionalism. A commitment to fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and compliant workplace is essential.

Responsibilities

Administer employee evaluation processes to ensure fair and consistent assessments.
Assist in benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and inquiries.
Maintain accurate data entry for employee records and HR databases.
Support strategic planning initiatives by providing insights on workforce trends and needs.
Manage various HR projects from inception to completion while ensuring alignment with company goals.
Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Reporting & Supervisory Summary

This role reports to the organization's chief of staff.
Currently, there are no supervisory responsibilities for this role.
The incumbent will work closely with the organization's internal recruiter.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field preferred.
Proven experience as an HR Generalist or similar role with two or more years experience.
SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.

Other Requirements

Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships within the organization.
High level of confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
Proficient in Google Workspace and other relevant software applications.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
