McAfee Safety Analysis, Inc. (MSA) is an environmental, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, and compliance consulting firm providing professional services to government and private-sector clients.
MSA is seeking qualified candidates to support a potential AHERA 3-Year Asbestos Re-Inspection project for school and support facilities in Columbus, Ohio. This position is contingent upon contract award.
Position Summary
The selected professional will support AHERA-required asbestos re-inspections, sampling, assessment, and reporting for multiple K-12 educational and support facilities.
We are particularly interested in candidates with current State of Ohio asbestos credentials and demonstrated experience performing AHERA inspections and re-inspections in school environments.
The anticipated project requires completion of inspections and associated reports within approximately 16 weeks following issuance of the purchase order.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct AHERA 3-year asbestos re-inspections at assigned school and support facilities.
- Inspect and assess known or suspected asbestos-containing building materials.
- Perform asbestos bulk sampling, as required.
- Document the location, quantity, condition, and potential for disturbance of asbestos-containing materials.
- Coordinate laboratory analysis of samples, including PLM and point-counting analysis, as applicable.
- Prepare accurate and complete inspection documentation and AHERA-compliant reports.
- Review existing asbestos management plans and previous inspection/re-inspection information as necessary.
- Maintain detailed field notes, photographs, sample documentation, and chain-of-custody records.
- Coordinate with MSA project management and designated school representatives.
- Ensure work complies with AHERA, 40 CFR Part 763, applicable State of Ohio requirements, and project specifications.
Required Qualifications
- Current State of Ohio asbestos accreditation/certification applicable to AHERA inspection activities.
- Current AHERA Asbestos Building Inspector accreditation/training.
- Demonstrated experience conducting asbestos inspections, re-inspections, assessments, and sampling.
- Knowledge of AHERA and 40 CFR Part 763 requirements.
- Ability to prepare professional asbestos inspection/re-inspection reports.
- Ability to travel to and work at multiple facilities throughout Columbus, Ohio.
- Strong written communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to complete assigned work within established project schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience conducting AHERA 3-year re-inspections for K-12 school districts.
- Previous work with Ohio public school districts or boards of education.
- Experience serving as a lead inspector, project lead, or supervisor for multi-facility asbestos inspection projects.
- Experience coordinating asbestos laboratory analysis, including Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) and point-counting analysis.
- Experience with large, multi-building asbestos inspection programs.
- Familiarity with preparation and maintenance of AHERA asbestos management documentation.
Project Information
The anticipated project involves AHERA 3-year re-inspections across multiple Columbus City Schools facilities and may include asbestos sampling and laboratory analysis. The base scope is anticipated to include up to 100 PLM-analyzed samples and up to 10 point-counting analyses.
Columbus City Schools also maintains an Outreach Program with an aspirational 20% Local Economically Disadvantaged Enterprise (LEDE) participation goal.
Compensation
Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications, credentials, and relevant project experience and will be discussed with selected candidates.
