SUMMARY
As a Golf Pro Shop Manager of semipublic golf course. You oversee the daily operations of the pro shop, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for golfers. Your responsibilities include managing inventory, coordinating merchandise displays, and providing exceptional customer service to club members and guests. You also handle reservations, tee time bookings, and assist with golf equipment sales and rentals. Your deep knowledge of golf equipment and apparel, coupled with your strong organizational and interpersonal skills, enables you to foster a welcoming environment and drive revenue through sales and customer satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assists with recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of the outside services staff.
· Assists the Golf Course Superintendent with the evaluation of the golf staff.
· Monitors and “works” the range to provide member assistance and ensures range standards.
· Provides quality private lessons and group clinics.
· Assists the Golf Course Superintendent with managing all aspects of the golf program.
· Provides and interprets golf policies, rules and regulations.
· Assumes the Golf Course Superintendent’s duties in his absence.
· Provides members with club fitting and golf club repair services.
· Assists in the coordination of tournaments and special events.
· Prepares, updates and maintains tee sheets and tournament score boards for tournaments and events.
· Maintains an attractive, orderly appearance in and around the pro shop, practice facilities and other golf related areas to create a high quality environment.
· Maintains playing ability and works to stay competent in all areas of their game.
· Represents the Club in area professional events including local, state or national events with the approval of the Golf Course Superintendent.
· Interprets and enforces the Club’s rules and regulations and ensures that the outside services staff is familiar with and enforces these rule
· Ensures that all staff are presentable, well groomed and in established uniforms at all times.
· Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe working environment, with emphasis on promoting employee health and safety.
· Follows directives and completes assignments with a minimum of supervision.
· Attends and actively participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
· Performs all work according to established procedures.
· Works under the general direction of the Golf Course Owner. Directs any employment and personnel concerns to the Golf Course Superintendent.
· Avails him/herself, to the best of his/her abilities, to directly assist in the furtherance of member satisfaction. Always maintains a friendly, hospitable and helpful attitude with all members, guests and fellow employees.
· Any other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
· PGA Golf Professional preferred
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Valid Driver's License and Proof of Auto Insurance
· Prior experience in all facets of golf operations including inventory and financial control; employee motivation and training; golf instruction; tournament and event management; working knowledge of golf course maintenance.
· Expertise in golfing rules and regulations. Knowledge and understanding of typical golf course procedures.
· Experience handling customer service issues, cash and credit card transactions
· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook is required. You
must be able to learn new computer programs that the club utilizes and operate other office equipment such as a fax and copier.
· Ability to learn member names, greeting them by name when they enter the golf
shop. Must exhibit willingness and preparation to go above and beyond normal
expectations on a daily basis for members and their requests.
· Must be efficient, detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to take direction in
order to complete tasks without the need for managerial follow-up.
· Must have a professional and well-groomed appearance and adhere to dress
code and uniform policies.
· Must possess an outgoing, friendly and professional personality, be able to
communicate clearly and be patient and courteous with members, guests, and
co-workers.
· Ability to work weekends and some holidays, lift stock items or objects weighing
more than 25 pounds and be on your feet for the majority of your work day.
