Travel Med Surg/Telemetry RN – Night Shift – Columbus, OH

Ready for your next travel nursing assignment? We’re hiring an experienced Med Surg/Telemetry RN for a 13-week contract at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

This is a great opportunity for a travel nurse who enjoys a fast-paced teaching hospital, feels confident with telemetry patients and is comfortable floating between similar units.

Specialty: Med Surg/Telemetry
Contract: 13 weeks
Start Date: September 8, 2026
Shift: Nights, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts
Hours: 36 hours per week
Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5
Float Required: Yes

What You’ll Do

You’ll care for adult and geriatric Med Surg/Telemetry patients while working with an experienced hospital support team.

You may float to other units with a similar or lower level of acuity based on staffing needs.

Common responsibilities include:

Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
IV starts and central-line management
Blood product administration
Heparin, PCA and IV insulin protocols
Oxygen therapy, CPAP/BiPAP and high-flow nasal cannula
Feeding tubes, wound care and wound vacs
Pre- and post-hemodialysis care
Responding to rapid-response and emergency situations

What You’ll Need

Active Ohio or compact RN license
At least two years of recent Med Surg/Telemetry experience
Previous travel nursing experience
Current BLS certification
Strong telemetry and IV-start skills
Ability to float as needed
Degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
Completed Med Surg/Telemetry skills checklist—you can complete ours or send us one you’ve already completed

ACLS, NIHSS, CPI, Epic and teaching-hospital experience are preferred but not required unless otherwise noted during credentialing.

A Few Helpful Details

Four weekend shifts are required per four-week schedule
Up to two time-off requests may be submitted
COVID-19 vaccination is not required
Flu vaccination is required, with medical exemptions considered
Ohio fingerprinting must be completed quickly after accepting the assignment
