We are not just hiring a laborer. No drilling experience required — a drive to learn a real trade, and the humility to ask good questions, absolutely is.
Texas Southern Drilling has completed over 1,100 water wells and built a reputation we protect like it's everything — because it is. We run modern hydraulic equipment, hold high standards, and we're based in Columbus, TX, serving roughly 15 counties around our home base of Colorado County — east toward the Houston area and west toward San Antonio. Depending on the day and equipment logistics, crews may meet closer to job sites, but availability and getting equipment where it needs to go always come first. That wide service area is a strength: when rain shuts down work in one spot, we adapt and keep moving in another, so our team and our customers never sit still.
We protect a 5-star reputation — not just online, but in our clients' hearts and inside our own team. How we do it: we do quality work the first time and we don't cut corners to go faster. And we run on honesty and humility — we'd rather work with someone who says "I don't know this yet, show me" and is hungry to learn than someone who fakes it, stays quiet, and puts the team in a bad spot. Asking good questions is a strength here, not a weakness.
What this actually is: This is the ground floor of a career, not a dead-end labor job. You'll learn the full cycle of drilling and installing water wells alongside experienced leads, on real work — we've completed over 1,100 wells and have plenty ahead. We pay for your licensing path, apprenticeship fees, study materials, and CDL as you grow. This is about owning your role and getting better at it every day — not everyone has to chase management, but everyone here takes pride in their work and keeps growing. Our team stays well-rounded too, so you may get exposure to the service side as well, which only makes you more valuable over time.
Who we're looking for: You think before you act, and you don't wait to be told the obvious. You're honest and humble — you ask questions and ask for help instead of guessing and creating problems. You own your role, pull your weight on a team that depends on each other, and you want to learn fast. We give you experienced people to learn from and we trust you to take real ownership of your work.
What you'll do:
-
Assist the lead technicians through the full drilling and pump-installation process
-
Learn to diagnose, set up, and quality-check wells — done right the first time
-
Carry your share of the physical work on site
-
Complete OSHA 30 certification after hire (if not already certified)
-
Ask good questions and look for ways to add value instead of waiting out the clock
-
Travel across our service area — drilling can mean multi-day or occasional week-long trips away from home
Why TSD: You'll learn more here, and faster, than almost anywhere else — and you won't be stuck in one lane. You're a name here, not a number, on a tight team that trusts you to own your work and backs you when you need it. We're not renting your labor — we're investing in you.
