Full Job Description

Nurse Practitioner Job Description:

We are searching for a qualified CNP or PA-C to join our Musculoskeletal and Interventional Pain Medicine team. The ideal candidate is trained in both pharmacological and non-pharmacological pain management strategies, and is passionate about helping patients restore mobility, reduce discomfort, and return to an active, more meaningful lifestyle.

Interventional Pain Medicine Key Responsibilities: Provide care for patients with acute and chronic pain disorders or injuries. The Provider will treat these conditions with appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.

Assesses the physical and mental condition of patients by performing and obtaining comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories.
Diagnose and manage pain-related conditions (acute and chronic).
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans (medications, injections, rehab support).
The Provider shall be responsible for the evaluation, prescribing, ongoing medication management, and timely renewal of prescription medications for assigned patients. The Provider must be knowledgeable, competent, and comfortable prescribing both non-controlled and controlled substances, including opioid medications, when clinically appropriate and in accordance with applicable federal and state laws, regulatory requirements, accepted standards of medical practice, and Company policies and protocols.
Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
Performs routine procedures, such as joint injections and trigger point injections. Orders specific pain management therapies (spinal injections, nerve blocks, neuromodulation therapies, radiofrequency ablation, etc.).
Manages and refills implanted intrathecal pain pumps.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all encounters.
Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care.
Educate patients on pain strategies, mobility, and self-care.
Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Columbus Physicians Group | Orthopaedic Spine & Joint Center.
Collaborate with nursing staff, administrative staff, support staff, and supervising physicians to ensure seamless patient care.
Meets regularly with supervising Physician(s) to develop, implement, evaluate and alter the patient’s plan of care as needed.
Provider will see a mix of new patients and established patients in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to manage up to 35 patients daily.
Return patient calls and ensure timely follow-up.
Code charges accurately and ethically.
OARRS/PDMP review.
Completion of prior-authorization requests, and peer-to-peer reviews as needed.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory boards and agencies.

Qualifications

Current unencumbered Nurse Practitioner license (State of Ohio).
Unrestricted DEA License.
Experience or strong interest in pain management, rehab, or spine care.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team member.
Dedication to high-quality, compassionate patient care.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of Pain Management techniques and treatment protocols.
Familiarity with acute and chronic pain diagnoses.
Understanding of pain-related clinical procedures.
Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations governing Pain Management.
Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
Highly proficient with computers especially: EMR Software, Meaningful Use, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
Ability to manage high levels of stress and capable of making sound difficult decisions
Very structured, organized, consistent, pleasant, cheerful, yet professional personality, who will earn the respect of patients and co-workers.
Must be incredibly punctual. Adherence to attendance policy required.
