Full Job Description

-9:00a-1:00p, Saturday & Sunday

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for providing professional triage, crisis intervention, and nursing care. These duties include patient assessment, crisis intervention, medical intervention, participation as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, administration of medication and other medical procedures at the direction of a physician. Carries out duties under the supervision of the Nurse Manager.

POSITIONS SUPERVISED:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assesses client’s medical and mental condition, prioritizes client’s needs and resource requirements in crisis situations, plans treatment objectives, time frames and contributes to crisis intervention.

2. Performs nursing duties according to accepted nursing standards and professional RN licensure.

3. Deal with violent or potentially violent clients by assessing situation and taking appropriate precaution to assure client/worker safety including assisting in the use of restraints when necessary.

4. Maintains timely and complete documentation of services and activities, which meet the standards of Netcare and accrediting agencies.

5. Identifies when resources are needed and properly consults with others in dealing with crisis situations.

6. Educates clients about proper use and effects of medication on an individual or group basis.

7. Assimilates RN report from facilities requesting to transfer clients to CIS. Reviews information and assists in transfer unless medically contraindicated.

8. Ability to achieve and maintain certification in required training programs.

9. Provides nursing services in CIS East, CIS West, or CSU, as assigned.

10. Performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to relate to clients with a variety of age, sex, economic, educational and professional background.

2. Ability to hear and speak well enough to converse with clients or other employee’s in person or over the telephone for majority of the time.

3. Exhibits flexibility and ability to manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.

4. Ability to work in alternate locations as assigned.

5. Ability to work with clients having a variety of psychiatric problems.

6. Knowledge of nursing principles, practices and techniques.

7. Knowledge of psychotropic drugs.

8. Ability to provide direct client care and treatment.

9. Ability to engage in problem solving.

10. Ability to effectively work as a member of a team.

11. Ability to gather information in order to evaluate a variety of situations, including information needed to assess medical issues.

12. Ability to participate in the physical restraint of agitated clients.

13. Ability to achieve and maintain certification in required training programs.

14. Demonstrated experience and/or training in substance abuse disorder assessment and/or treatment.
