We're partnering with a higher education institution seeking a Controller to lead the accounting and business office functions during a critical rebuilding period. The organization needs a hands-on accounting leader who can stabilize operations, clean up several months of backlog, and establish strong processes moving forward.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable rolling up their sleeves while also leading a team and owning the accounting function with minimal oversight.

Higher education accounting experience strongly preferred

Experience with Ellucian Colleague highly desired

Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, payroll, AP, AR, and federal funding/reporting

Ability to lead a team while digging into details and resolving accounting cleanup issues

Open to an experienced Controller or an up-and-coming Assistant Controller/Accounting Manager ready for the next step
The Controller will oversee a team supporting accounting, student accounts, financial aid, and AP functions while helping bring organization and structure back to the department.
