Schedule
- Part-time
- Monday–Friday
- Primarily after-school hours (approximately 3:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.)
- Weekend opportunities available

Position Summary
The Behavioral Respite Specialist provides community-based respite services for children and adolescents enrolled in OhioRISE and other behavioral health programs. Specialists provide one-on-one or small-group support that encourages emotional regulation, social development, communication skills, independence, and healthy community engagement.
Services are provided in community settings such as parks, libraries, recreation centers, museums, and other approved locations while following each child's individualized care plan.
Essential Responsibilities
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children, adolescents, and families.
- Supervise youth during community-based outings and recreational activities.
- Teach and reinforce communication, social, emotional regulation, and independent living skills.
- Implement individualized behavioral and developmental goals.
- Utilize positive reinforcement and trauma-informed approaches to encourage healthy behaviors.
- Plan engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote learning, recreation, and socialization.
- Serve as a positive mentor and role model.
- Communicate regularly with caregivers and supervisors regarding participant progress.
- Complete accurate documentation, progress notes, and required Medicaid billing documentation.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
- Safely transport participants to approved community activities when authorized.
- Follow all Frontline Healthcare policies, safety procedures, and documentation requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Counseling, Behavioral Health, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with children or adolescents preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with supervisors.
- Basic computer and smartphone proficiency.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and exercise sound judgment.
Required Certifications & Training
Before independently working with participants, employees must obtain or complete:
- Current CPR & First Aid Certification (required)
- Trauma-Informed Care Training (required prior to working independently)
- De-escalation/Crisis Intervention Training (required prior to working independently)
Training assistance may be provided by Frontline Healthcare if needed.
Driving Requirements
- Valid Ohio driver's license
- Reliable personal vehicle
- Current automobile insurance
- Clean driving record
- Ability to safely transport participants
Additional Employment Requirements
- Successful criminal background check (required)
- Ability to pass all required employment screenings
- Ability to maintain Medicaid provider eligibility
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing respite services
- Experience working with autism, ADHD, behavioral disorders, or emotional disturbances
- Experience with OhioRISE, youth mentoring, behavioral health, case management, education, or developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of positive behavior supports and crisis prevention techniques
Physical Requirements
- Stand, walk, bend, and actively participate in community activities.
- Lift up to 25 pounds.
- Safely operate a motor vehicle throughout the workday.
- Participate in recreational and therapeutic activities alongside youth.
