Definition:
Under immediate supervision, is responsible for the personal care of children with physical disabilities during the school year; performs related duties as required.
This job posting is for a competitive position which requires a Training and Experience Assessment. When vacancies occur in this classification, the names of all candidates who pass this assessment will be forwarded to hiring managers, based on score ranking. The examination process will consist of a Training and Experience Assessment. The assessment will be provided to candidates who pass the application review process.

Substitute Childcare Attendant:
Substitute Childcare Attendant positions are temporary, as-needed positions and are not eligible for benefits . Substitute positions may provide an opportunity to be considered for a permanent position when vacancies become available; however, employment as a substitute does not guarantee permanent employment. Applicants who indicate an interest in substitute employment and successfully complete the required assessment will be referred to Substitute Services for consideration of substitute employment opportunities.
EXAMPLES OF WORK (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)
· Assists in toileting children with physical disabilities;
· Diapers students who must be changed and lifts them to and from the diapering table;
· Cleans and disinfects equipment and areas used by children with physical disabilities;
· Helps feed children with physical disabilities during lunch by carrying trays and feeding children by hand if necessary;
· Helps students into coats, boots and other wearing apparel and assists in the removal of such apparel;
· Assists mainstreamed students with physical needs or adaptive supports in classes such as some Economics, Industrial Arts, Music, Art, and adaptive Physical Education;
· Assists with the supervision of students during indoor and outdoor recreation periods;
· May, if hired on a calendar year basis, wash walls, windows, furniture, lockers and woodwork; clean kitchen area and kitchen appliances when school is not in session;
· May after appropriate training by Columbus Public Schools profession medical personnel, perform catheterizations and change bricker bags of students
· May, after appropriate training by physical and/or occupational therapists, adjust prone boards, and position on and remove students from the prone boards;
· Assists students who are self-contained in the orthopedic handicap resource classroom.
· Lifts students in and out of wheelchairs and in and out of bus seats;
· Assists student on and off buses;
· Pushes wheelchairs onto and off bus lifts and holds on to chair while operating lift;
· Fastens students into seat belts and wheelchair fasteners on board the bus;
· Monitors students and attends to their needs while on school bus;
· Other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Possession of a Student Monitor Permit from the State of Ohio Department of Education must be attained during the pre-employment process with Columbus City Schools District and maintained throughout employment.

If you are interested in having your name included on the new eligible list, you will need to apply for this position within the filing period indicated above and successfully complete all phases of the testing process. All applicants must complete all phases of the testing process in order to receive a final score. The names of all candidates who pass this examination will remain on the eligible list for two years, unless the eligible list is replaced prior to or extended beyond the two years. If a candidate's name is certified and the candidate is to be considered for employment, the hiring process will include one or more interviews, a criminal background check, and may include a pre-employment drug test.
The certification process will be the top 10 candidates on the eligible list, or top 25% of the list, whichever is greater, based on overall test score.
