About the Role:
Job Title: Data Center Infrastructure Technician
Position Overview
Seeking a Data Center Infrastructure Technician with hands-on experience supporting complex data center environments, Layer 1 infrastructure, structured cabling, networking, hardware, physical infrastructure, and onsite operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to onsite risks, high-priority incidents, troubleshooting, shift turnover, incident queues, and vendor escorts.
- Execute data center installations, moves, decommissions, reconfigurations, and power-down activities.
- Support Layer 1 infrastructure design, implementation, documentation, capacity/inventory planning, and infrastructure changes.
- Contribute to automation using APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks.
- Apply knowledge of data center hardware, power, cooling, physical security, and facility infrastructure.
- Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and architecture details.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, demos, presentations, and team knowledge-sharing activities.
Required Qualifications
- 1–3+ years of experience deploying and maintaining complex data center environments, including new facilities and/or major renovations and expansions.
- Hands-on understanding of indoor and outdoor cable plants, including:
- Copper cabling
- Long-range and short-range fiber optic cabling
- Single-mode and multimode fiber
- Cat 5e, Cat 6, and Cat 6A
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure components, including:
- LAN/WAN/SAN
- Firewalls
- Wintel/Lintel/UNIX servers
- Storage
- Network equipment
- Wireless
- DAS
- Understanding of EIA/TIA, IEEE, NEC, and ISO standards applicable to data centers and structured cabling.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
- Self-starter and team player comfortable working with internal teams and external vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience designing, deploying, and maintaining complex data center environments.
- Data center, networking, or infrastructure-related certifications.
- Experience with large-scale data center construction, expansion, renovation, or migration projects.
- Experience with infrastructure automation, APIs, CI/CD, network monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Location: New Albany, OH - (5 days Onsite role)
Salary and Other Compensation: The annual [salary/hourly rate] for this position is between [$50,000– $55,000 annually]/[$30.00- $33.00 per hour]. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
