Seeking a Post Doctoral Scholar to join the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The Ohio State University to study excited-state dynamics and finite-temperature electronic structure of condensed-phase systems using theoretical and computational methods . T he Post Doctoral Scholar will embark on a program of independent research with the primary goal to determine ho w strongly coupled electronic and vibrational excitations shape the finite-temperature response properties of interfaces and solids . Duties will include conduct ing research work centered around developing first principles theoretical methods, performing multiscale simulations, and analyzing computational data ; leading manuscript preparation for submission to peer-reviewed journals ; and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students . Other responsibilities include the maintenance of custom open-source computing software .

Qualifications :

PhD in chemistry or physics or a related field by the time of hire is required , along with a strong theoretical ba ckground in physical chemistry or chemical physics . Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining a codebase of theoretical methods and software ; excellent verbal and written communication skills ; and a collaborative mentality towards research and mentoring .

Desired skills and techniques include experience developing condensed-phase electronic structure methods , quantum -classical dynamics approaches , or Green’s function techniques. These required and desired skills should be demonstrated through a record of peer-reviewed publications.
