Registered Nurse (RN) – Correctional Facility

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Correctional Healthcare
Location: Orient, Ohio 43146
Job Type: Full-Time / Contract
Shift: Hours: 6:00 am-7:20pm

Will working weekends/Holidays: off days will be as follows, Sun-Tues-Wed-Sat - Schedule/Hours subject to change and must be open to any day of the week. - This is not a PRN position

Must be available any day of the week to include weekends - Shift/schedule can change at any time - maybe required to stay over to make sure facility
Pay Rate: $33 to $36

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team within a correctional facility. The RN will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care, conducting assessments, administering medications and treatments, responding to medical emergencies, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care in a secure environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans.
Administer medications, treatments, and injections in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
Monitor, evaluate, and document patient conditions, responses to treatment, and progress.
Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate nursing interventions.
Conduct intake screenings, sick-call evaluations, and chronic care assessments.
Provide patient education regarding health conditions, medications, and treatment plans.
Collaborate with physicians, mental health professionals, and other healthcare staff to coordinate patient care.
Supervise and delegate nursing tasks to LPNs and other support staff as appropriate.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Ensure compliance with correctional healthcare policies, infection control protocols, and patient confidentiality standards.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a safe healthcare environment.

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of [State].
Current CPR/BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
Graduate of an accredited Nursing program.
Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred.
Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work effectively in a correctional or secure healthcare environment.
Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.

Preferred Experience

Correctional healthcare experience.
Emergency Room (ER), Medical-Surgical, Behavioral Health, Psychiatric, or Critical Care nursing experience.
Experience with medication administration, chronic disease management, and emergency response.
Familiarity with EMR systems and electronic documentation.
