Full Job Description

Manufacturing Controller

Columbus, Ohio | Confidential Search

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manufacturing Controller to oversee the financial operations of our organization. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. This is a hands-on leadership role for a finance professional who understands what happens on the plant floor — not just in the general ledger. You will own the accounting function for the operation and serve as a key financial partner to leadership.

What You Will Do

Own the full accounting cycle for a manufacturing operation, including month-end close, financial statements, and reporting to ownership
Manage cost accounting: standard costing, bill of materials accuracy, labor and overhead absorption, and variance analysis
Oversee inventory accounting, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
Analyze margins by product line and identify cost-reduction opportunities
Partner with plant leadership on operational metrics, capital expenditure analysis, and pricing support
Maintain internal controls and support external accountants during tax and year-end work
Supervise and develop accounting staff

What We Are Looking For

5–15 years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful time in a manufacturing environment
Strong working knowledge of the manufacturing process — how material, labor, and overhead flow from raw material to finished goods
Proficiency across a variety of accounting and ERP systems; ability to learn new platforms quickly, Advanced Excel skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA a plus but not required
Self-directed, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a lean, privately held environment where the controller wears multiple hats
Must be able to work on-site in Columbus, Ohio — this is not a remote or hybrid position
