Full Job Description

Hiring: IT Consultant – Project Governance & Portfolio Management

Location: Columbus, OH - 100% Onsite

Job Type: Long-term Contract

Direct Client:

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Consultant to support enterprise project governance, project portfolio management, and strategic IT initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned project management professional with strong leadership, stakeholder management, and governance experience.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain IT project governance policies and best practices.
Manage and administer the agency's IT project portfolio to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Lead requirements gathering and business analysis by working closely with business stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide mentorship and guidance to agency project managers.
Monitor project and portfolio performance, identify risks, and provide regular status updates to the CIO and executive leadership.
Independently manage multiple IT projects from initiation through planning, execution, monitoring, and successful completion.
Foster strong business relationships and ensure effective communication across technical and business teams.

Required Qualifications

Strong understanding of Project Management methodologies, principles, and best practices.
Proven experience managing multiple IT projects simultaneously.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience developing project governance frameworks and administering project portfolios.
Strong experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and technical requirements for complex IT projects.

Preferred Skills

Experience working within a government or public-sector environment.
Familiarity with PMO processes, portfolio management, and executive reporting.
Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar.
