Construction Surveyor / Layout Technician

Job Summary:

Parks Drilling Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Surveyor / Layout Technician to join our growing team. This individual will play a critical role in supporting foundation, transmission, substation, and heavy civil construction projects through accurate layout, surveying, and as-built documentation.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment. This position will require travel to project sites throughout the Midwest and surrounding regions.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform construction staking and site layout for drilled foundations, transmission structures, substations, and civil infrastructure projects.
Establish and verify project control points using GPS and total station equipment.
Read and interpret construction drawings, site plans, and engineering documents.
Collect field measurements and survey data for project verification and quality control.
Perform as-built surveys and documentation throughout all phases of construction.
Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and field crews to ensure accurate project layout.
Utilize survey equipment and software to process field data and create reports.
Support excavation, drilled shaft, caisson, and foundation installation activities with accurate field layout.
Maintain survey equipment and ensure all instruments remain calibrated and operational.
Assist in identifying and resolving field conflicts before they impact production.
Document site conditions and provide accurate project records for customers and internal teams.
Travel to project locations as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

3+ years of experience in construction surveying, layout, civil construction, or a related field.
Proficient with GPS survey equipment, robotic total stations, and data collectors.
Experience with Trimble equipment, Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar software preferred.
Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, and utility construction drawings.
Strong mathematical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Willingness to travel for project assignments.
Valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable under the company’s insurance requirements.
