Job Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Endoscopy Registered Nurse, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care during endoscopic procedures. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing your specialized nursing skills to ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes. As an integral part of our multidisciplinary team, you will coordinate pre- and post-procedure care, assist with complex endoscopic interventions, and uphold the highest standards of aseptic technique and infection control. Your expertise will contribute to advancing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within a supportive and innovative healthcare setting.

Duties

Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures by reviewing medical histories, explaining procedures, and ensuring informed consent is obtained.
Assist physicians during endoscopic examinations, including colonoscopies, gastroscopies, and other minimally invasive procedures, ensuring all equipment is sterile and functioning properly.
Monitor patient vital signs, sedation levels, and overall condition throughout procedures, responding promptly to any adverse events or complications.
Perform post-procedure assessments, provide patient education on recovery protocols, and document all care activities accurately in electronic health records (EHR systems).
Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to prevent cross-contamination.
Manage medical supplies and equipment inventory specific to endoscopy suites, including sterilization processes and troubleshooting technical issues with endoscopic devices.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, radiologists, and support staff to optimize patient outcomes and procedural efficiency.

Experience

Candidates should possess a valid nursing license with current registration in their state or country. Prior experience working as an Endoscopy Nurse or in related specialties such as Gastroenterology or Medical-Surgical nursing is highly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is essential for accurate documentation. Experience with advanced procedures such as Botulinum toxin treatment or assisting with complex interventions like cardiac catheterization enhances candidacy. Additional valuable skills include familiarity with sterile processing techniques, IV infusion management, sedation monitoring, and airway management during conscious sedation. Candidates with critical care experience—such as ICU or Level I Trauma Center backgrounds—will bring valuable expertise in managing acute pain and emergency response situations. Knowledge of medical terminology related to gastrointestinal diagnostics, ICD coding practices for procedural documentation, and infection control standards will support success in this role.
