Full Job Description

Job Overview

Must have one of these: ARDMS (AB) or ARDMS (OB)

Will only be performing general ultrasound exams, we do not want a vascular tech.

Shift: 5x8s either 7a-330p or 730a-4p just depends on what room we have them in that day. When covering the weekend it will be a 12 hour shift 7a-7p and the week day shifts leading up to and after will be 7hr shifts (example 7a-230p or 730a-3p); no call

Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with physician orders and department protocols. Operate ultrasound equipment and select appropriate transducers, settings, and techniques to ensure optimal image quality. Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the exam, taking a relevant medical history, and positioning them correctly. Recognize and document normal and abnormal sonographic findings. Collaborate with radiologists and physicians by providing preliminary impressions and ensuring timely delivery of images and reports. Maintain accurate patient records, including procedure details and technical data. Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of ultrasound equipment. Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and radiation safety protocols. Participate in quality assurance programs and continuing education as required. Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards. Organized, timely, and accurate completion of procedures relative to department standards. Utilize effective communication to ensure customer identification, education, safety, and satisfaction. Communication and documentation of all variations from protocol. Interventions with patients/families of all age groups: neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

Duties

Conduct high-resolution ultrasound scans of small parts, including obstetric and gynecological regions, with precision and adherence to established protocols
Utilize advanced sonography techniques to capture detailed images for diagnostic evaluation
Maintain strict aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and prevent infection
Interpret preliminary findings and communicate results clearly to physicians or specialists for further analysis
Educate patients about procedures, addressing questions with professionalism and empathy
Maintain accurate documentation of imaging procedures, patient records, and technical notes
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support comprehensive patient care plans
Stay current with advancements in medical imaging technology, physiology, and sonography best practices

Skills

Strong knowledge of maternal-fetal medicine, Ob/Gyn anatomy, and physiology relevant to small parts imaging
Proficiency in medical terminology related to obstetrics, gynecology, and diagnostic radiology
Expertise in medical imaging techniques specific to sonography of small anatomical regions
Excellent understanding of anatomy knowledge necessary for precise imaging interpretation
Familiarity with aseptic techniques to ensure sterile procedures during examinations
Effective communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare professionals
Ability to apply medical terminology accurately in documentation and reporting
Knowledge of patient care principles, emphasizing comfort, safety, and confidentiality
