Retail / Medical Office Manager - Optometry / Healthcare Setting

Position Overview

The Retail / Optical Office Manager oversees day-to-day operations, staff leadership, and patient flow at our Grove City location. You’ll work closely with optometrists, opticians, and the practice leadership team to ensure a smooth clinical and retail experience.

You’ll focus on hiring, training, scheduling, and team culture, while your Lead Optician partners on product presentation and the eyewear side. Optical experience isn’t required — we’ll teach you that. What matters is your ability to build teams, drive growth, and deliver top-tier service.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop a team of 8–12 professionals in a healthcare and retail setting
Hire, train, and motivate staff to achieve patient satisfaction and sales goals
Manage scheduling, daily patient flow, and office operations
Conduct team meetings and performance reviews
Partner with Lead Optician(s) on product displays, inventory, and patient education
Collaborate with optometrists to maintain smooth communication and clinical efficiency
Review performance metrics and take action to meet business and service goals
Step in where needed to support the team and maintain a great patient experience

Qualifications

A genuine drive to increase growth and profitability while elevating the patient experience
5+ years of management or leadership experience in healthcare, dental, retail, or banking
Proven success in hiring, training, and developing teams
Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
Professionalism, organization, and attention to detail
Ability to interpret and act on key performance indicators
Willingness to learn the optical and technical side of lenses and eyewear
Poise under pressure and a patient-first mindset

Preferred Experience

Management of a clinic, branch, or retail location with 5–15 employees
Familiarity with scheduling systems, patient flow, or insurance coordination
Experience in optometry, ophthalmology, dental, or other medical offices (a plus)
ABO certification, leadership credentials, or Licensed Optician (preferred but not required)

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: Starts at $24.00 per hour, plus performance-based bonus potential
Benefits: 401(k), health insurance, paid time off, employee discounts
Schedule: Full-time, on-site in Grove City, Ohio
