Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Plant Supervisor to lead our manufacturing operations on the WEEKEND with energy and precision. In this vital role, you will oversee daily plant activities, ensure production targets are met efficiently, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Your leadership will drive manufacturing excellence, uphold quality standards, and optimize supply chain processes to deliver outstanding results. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily operations across burning/plasma, grinding, saw operations, and all related plant machinery.
- Assign and prioritize work across departments to meet production schedules and on-time delivery requirements.
- Review work orders, blueprints, and job specifications to ensure proper setup and execution across all assigned areas.
- Monitor production output, machine utilization, and workflow efficiency; identify and resolve bottlenecks.
- Ensure product quality meets customer specifications and company standards at each stage of production.
- Train, mentor, and develop production personnel on equipment operation, safety procedures, and quality expectations.
- Conduct inspections of work in progress and completed parts across all supervised departments.
- Coordinate workflow and scheduling between burning/plasma, grinding, saw operations, and downstream departments including fabrication, welding, and shipping.
- Ensure all plant machinery is properly operated and that operators are following established procedures and maintenance checklists.
- Communicate equipment issues, downtime, and maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel promptly.
- Enforce all safety policies and ensure consistent compliance with PPE requirements throughout the shop floor.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to production output, quality, and personnel as required.
- Assist with troubleshooting machine and production issues; coordinate with maintenance as needed.
- Participate in manpower planning, daily scheduling, and shift handoff communications.
- Communicate production status, issues, and improvements effectively to the Operations Manager.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, rework, and downtime across all supervised areas.
- Wear approved personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection at all times on the shop floor.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions consist of an indoor shop floor environment with exposure to loud noise, airborne particles such as metal dust and fumes, bright light from cutting operations, and moving mechanical parts. Physical requirements include continual standing, walking, and periodic bending, stooping, climbing, twisting, and crouching. The ability to lift, carry, and handle materials for extended periods is required daily.
Knowledge, Abilities,Skills:
- Previous supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment preferred.
- Working knowledge of burning/plasma cutting, grinding, and saw operations in an industrial setting preferred.
- Familiarity with a broad range of plant machinery and the ability to oversee safe and effective operation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and job specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple departments simultaneously.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, adjust to shifting production demands, and meet deadlines.
- Experience with workflow coordination across multiple departments or production areas.
- Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, and calipers.
- Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Ability to perform math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions as well as converting fractions to decimals or vice versa.
- Knowledge of general shop procedures, safety precautions, and OSHA compliance requirements.
- Ability to lift and move up to seventy-five (75) pounds, as well as lift and move heavier objects with assistance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs preferred; AS400 or ERP system experience a plus.
- Ability and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and work as part of a production team.
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
