Director of Nursing (DON) Franklin County Jail | Columbus, Ohio

Lead the nursing team. Own clinical operations. Make a measurable impact.

Armor Health is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead nursing operations at Franklin County Jail.

This is an opportunity for a strong clinical leader who knows how to manage people, drive accountability, solve problems, and maintain high standards of patient care in a complex healthcare environment.

We are especially interested in current DONs, Assistant DONs, Nurse Managers, Clinical Supervisors, and experienced Charge RNs who are ready to take the next step in their leadership career.

If you are the nurse other nurses turn to when things get difficult, you know how to hold a team accountable, and you are ready to own the nursing operation—not simply work in it—we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As the Director of Nursing, you will provide day-to-day clinical and operational leadership for the nursing department.

You will:

Lead, coach, and hold nursing staff accountable to clinical, operational, and performance expectations
Oversee daily nursing operations, staffing, assignments, scheduling, and coverage
Ensure appropriate staffing levels and respond quickly to staffing challenges
Provide clinical leadership and support to RNs, LPNs, and other nursing staff
Monitor quality of care, clinical practices, documentation, and compliance
Partner with site leadership to address operational challenges and improve performance
Manage employee performance, including coaching, corrective action, and recognition
Establish clear expectations and create a culture of accountability
Investigate and resolve clinical and operational concerns
Support orientation, onboarding, training, and development of nursing staff
Monitor key nursing metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare standards, regulations, policies, and contractual requirements
Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to support continuity and quality of care
Respond effectively to urgent clinical and staffing situations
Serve as the nursing leader and primary point of accountability for the site

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a hands-on nursing leader, not an administrator who manages from a distance.

Required

Current, unrestricted RN license
Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
Demonstrated experience leading or supervising nursing staff
Strong clinical foundation with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
Experience with staffing, scheduling, performance management, and day-to-day nursing operations
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to establish expectations, hold people accountable, and address performance issues directly
Ability to work effectively with physicians, nursing staff, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams
