Full Job Description

Role Overview

The Residential Support Staff plays a critical role in delivering consistent, high quality care within a licensed residential behavioral health setting. This role is responsible for supporting residents with daily living activities, reinforcing individualized treatment plans, and maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment in compliance with U.S. healthcare and state regulatory standards.

This position directly contributes to resident safety, treatment continuity, and regulatory compliance, making it essential to both clinical outcomes and operational stability.

Hours are:

7am-7pm

7pm-7am

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct care and supervision to residents in alignment with individualized service or treatment plans, ensuring consistency across all shifts.
Support residents with activities of daily living including hygiene, meals, medication reminders (as permitted by state regulations), and adherence to structured routines.
Monitor resident behavior, emotional well-being, and physical condition, promptly identifying and escalating concerns to licensed clinical staff.
Maintain a safe residential environment by enforcing house rules, safety procedures, and infection control protocols.
Accurately document all resident interactions, incidents, and observations in compliance with HIPAA and organizational documentation standards.
Support crisis prevention and de-escalation using approved intervention techniques and organizational protocols.
Collaborate with clinical, case management, and operations teams to ensure alignment between daily support activities and treatment goals.
Participate in shift handovers to ensure continuity of care and accurate information transfer.

Resident engagement and participation in structured programs
Timely incident reporting and escalation
Compliance with HIPAA, safety, and organizational policies
Contribution to a safe, stable, and therapeutic residential environment

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED requiredAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred
Minimum of 1 year experience in behavioral health, residential care, direct support, or human services preferred

Required Certifications and Compliance (U.S.)

Valid CPR and First Aid Certification (required prior to or shortly after hire)
Crisis Prevention and Intervention Certification such as CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or equivalent (required or must be obtained within onboarding period)
HIPAA Training Certification (required upon hire)
Mandated Reporter Training (as required by state)
Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record (if transportation of residents is required)
Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and any state-specific healthcare clearance requirements
TB Test and/or health screening clearance (as required by state regulations)

Preferred Certifications

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) (preferred but not required)
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) (preferred for facilities supporting behavioral therapy populations)
Mental Health First Aid Certification

Core Competencies

Strong attention to detail, particularly in documentation and compliance
Reliability and accountability in a shift-based work environment

Work Structure and Expectations

This is a shift-based role requiring availability for day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.

The role requires active, on-site engagement including extended periods of standing, walking, and direct resident interaction.
