The Sourcing Manager – Cell Therapy Platform is a key contributor within the Sourcing team, who is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that support cell therapy and advanced therapy platforms across the organization.
This role sits at the intersection of science, operations, and supplier strategy, partnering closely with internal stakeholders to ensure the sourcing ecosystem can support clinical and commercial needs in a highly regulated, rapidly evolving environment. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will manage complex supplier relationships, lead competitive sourcing events, and contribute to long‑term category and platform strategies that balance cost, risk, scalability, and quality.
This is an ideal role for a sourcing professional with experience in Cell Therapy, Cell & Gene Therapy (CGT), biologics, or other advanced therapies, who is ready to operate beyond transactional procurement and into strategic platform enablement.

Job Description:

This is an ideal role for a sourcing professional with experience in Cell Therapy, Cell & Gene Therapy (CGT), biologics, or other advanced therapies, who is ready to operate beyond transactional procurement and into strategic platform enablement.

Join Vitalant’s mission to save and improve lives through blood donation and beyond! As a Sourcing Manager, you’ll be responsible for developing sourcing and procurement strategies for assigned equipment, supply, and service categories across the Vitalant System. The Sourcing Manager will lead cross-functional sourcing projects, vendor selection, contracting and contract management initiatives in support of Vitalant, affiliates and related entities. This is an individual contributor position and does not supervise staff.

As a Biotherapy Sourcing Manager, you'll get to:

Support Cell Therapy, Cell and Gene Therapy/Biologics/Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices and similarly regulated industries. Conduct market research for alternative products/services and procurement sources.
Analyze trends in commodity markets, changes in industry, technology, regulatory changes and trends in Vitalant spend.
Prepare and maintains basic project plans. Use a plan to align team members and successfully achieve timing milestones and outcomes.
Evaluate RFI and RFP responses and broadly consider vendor sourcing opportunities. Lead a cross-functional team through a structured bid evaluation and selection process.
Negotiates contracts for capital equipment, supplies and services. Provides transitional project planning and oversight of switch-overs when awarding contracts to new suppliers.
Independently develops RFP documents to meet Vitalant stakeholder needs. Ensures RFP bid and negotiation process is conducted in the most fair and ethical manner.
Prepares accurate bid analysis and creates presentations and cost modules to recommend the most responsive and responsible bidder on Total Cost of Ownership. Presents and makes recommendations to leadership.
Applies fact-based negotiation tactics to resolve differences between vendor and
Vitalant ensuring an acceptable outcome for both parties. Seeks assistance from
Senior Sourcing Manager as needed.
Provides support to management (inside and outside Corporate Supply Chain) in
planning and executing sourcing strategies for specific projects. Facilitates
constructive change through strong communication and leadership skills.
Establishes and maintains strong relationships with strategic vendors to ensure key
spend categories are under contract. Mitigates supply risk by monitoring and adapting
to changes in the supplier’s operations, product quality, capabilities to supply, key
personnel or other factors that could impair Vitalant operations.
Decides if proposed contract changes and modifications are reasonable and in the best
interest of Vitalant. Consults with Strategic Sourcing Manager as appropriate.

Note: Salary will be determined based on Years of Experience and Geographic Location.

Strongly Preferred Requirements:

Experience with Sourcing/Procurement Supporting:

Cell Therapy, Cell & Gene Therapy, Biologics, Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, Or Similarly Regulated Industries.

Proven experience leading RFP/RFI/RFQ
