Full Job Description

NewGen Racquet Club is looking for a dependable, organized, and personable team member to join our front desk staff.

Our front desk team is often the first and last interaction customers have with NewGen, so we want someone who can make people feel welcome, communicate clearly, and provide a positive experience while also keeping the club organized and running smoothly.

This is not a position where you simply sit behind a desk. Our club can be busy, with tennis and pickleball court reservations, academy classes, open plays, events, phone calls, and customers all happening at the same time.

We are looking for someone who can stay organized, pay attention to details, communicate well with customers, and take ownership of their shift.

What You'll Do

1) Front Desk & Customer Service:

Welcome players, parents, members, and guests in a friendly and professional way.
Help create a positive and welcoming atmosphere for everyone who visits the club.
Answer phone calls and assist with questions about reservations, programs, memberships, and the facility.
Help customers with court reservations and registrations.
Check players in and direct them to the correct courts, classes, or programs.
Learn our programs and services well enough to confidently help customers find what they need.
Communicate club policies clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
Handle basic customer concerns with patience and good judgment, and know when something should be escalated to a manager.
Build positive relationships with regular members, players, parents, and academy families.

2) Court & Facility Operations

Monitor court schedules throughout your shift and stay familiar with what is happening in the facility.
Make sure customers are using the courts they reserved and are following their reservation times.
Watch for unauthorized court use, early starts, overstays, and other reservation issues.
Perform regular walkthroughs of the facility throughout the shift.
Keep the front desk, lounge, furniture, and common areas clean and organized.
Check bathrooms, trash cans, supplies, equipment, music, TVs, tablets/scanners, and other facility items.
Help make sure tennis and pickleball courts are ready for customers.
Complete opening, closing, and shift checklists accurately.

3) Academy & Program Support

Review the day's academy classes, clinics, open plays, and events.
Print class rosters and prepare clipboards when needed.
Assist coaches and managers with basic program setup.
Make sure equipment and program materials are returned and organized after use.
Help parents and players with registration questions and direct more complex questions to the appropriate staff member.

4) Administrative Responsibilities

Use CourtReserve and other club systems to manage reservations and customer information.
Log into and monitor the club phone system during your shift.
Complete assigned shift tasks and basic administrative work.
Communicate important incidents, customer issues, maintenance concerns, or unfinished tasks to the next shift or management.

Patient and helpful when answering questions or resolving basic customer concerns.
Comfortable using computers, tablets, phones, and scheduling software.
Willing to walk around the facility regularly rather than remain behind the front desk.
Able to notice when something doesn't look right and take action instead of ignoring it.

Experience working at a front desk, recreation facility, gym, sports club, restaurant, retail environment, or other customer-facing business is helpful, but reliability, attention to detail, professionalism, and attitude are more important to us than previous racquet-sports experience.

Schedule

This is a part-time position, typically working approximately 2–4 shifts per week.

Applicants should have flexibility to work evenings and weekends, which are some of our busiest times.

Compensation & Club Benefits

Starting Pay Range: $15/hr - $18/hr

NewGen Racquet Club and NewGen Academy are an indoor tennis and pickleball facility in Lewis Center, Ohio. We offer court rentals, memberships, open play, adult programming, junior tennis training, lessons, clinics, tournaments, and special events.

We are a growing club, and our staff plays an important role in making sure every customer has a positive experience while the facility stays organized and operates smoothly.

We don't expect every new employee to know everything on day one. We can teach our systems and procedures.

What is much harder to teach is reliability, awareness, attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine care for the customer experience.
