As Senior Product Support Engineer, you will serve as the technical authority and product life cycle leader for products manufactured both domestically and through a global supplier network across our portfolio of brands, including Coleman® Fuel, Bernzomatic®, Mag-`Torch®, General Tools®, Garden Weasel®, and Level5®. You will be responsible for the technical evaluation and execution of product design, material and process changes after launch—ensuring products remain safe, compliant, manufacturable, reliable, cost-effective, and competitive throughout their lifecycle.
You will play a critical role in change management, supplier transitions, product modifications, advising new product development (NPD) teams, quality, regulatory compliance, continuous improvement, and resolution of complex technical issues. Product Lifecycle & Change Management

Serve as the technical lead and design authority for fielded, in-service products.

Lead and coordinate cross-functional projects involving:

Supplier and manufacturing-location changes

Product cost-reduction initiatives

Design-for-manufacturability improvements

Part obsolescence and replacement

Develop project plans, coordinate stakeholders, track deliverables, identify risks, and drive projects through completion.

Initiate or review and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Artwork Change Requests (ACRs).

Ensure product configuration, drawings, specifications, documentation, and product markings remain accurate and controlled.

Coordinate the transfer of technical and product knowledge from NPD Engineering into ongoing product support.
New Product Development
Serve as a key quality, engineering, and regulatory approver throughout NPD programs, advising on product designs and concepts considering applicable domestic and international codes, regulations, certification requirements, industry standards, manufacturability and quality. Support advance product quality planning (APQP) activities and drive or participate in production part approval process (PPAP) approvals.
Global Supplier & Manufacturing Support
This role includes meaningful international content. You will travel to and collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams supporting manufacturing and sourcing activities domestically as well as in Asia and Europe. Both domestic and international travel is anticipated up to 20%.

What You Bring
Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering experience.

5+ years of engineering experience involving systems integration, configuration management, structural/mechanical components, industrial products, consumer products, or similar manufactured products.

Demonstrable experience qualifying suppliers and managing projects including supplier selection, supplier development, product designs and approvals, manufacturing process development with approvals, and product production reviews.

Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, engineering change control, and configuration management.
-
Experience working across multiple functional groups and coordinating projects without direct authority.
-
Demonstrated commitment to continual improvement, problem solving, knowledge management, and process efficiency.
Preferred

Experience with a quality management system, such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949.

CAD/CAE experience, preferably SolidWorks.

Product certification and regulatory experience involving UL, CE, or ETL.

Experience with APQP and PPAP.

Experience with supplier development, supplier transitions, or manufacturing transfers.

Experience with product audits, reliability testing, corrective actions, or product conformity programs.

Experience supporting products manufactured internationally.

Experience with configuration management and PDM systems.
Work Environment & Schedule
This position is based in Columbus, OH, with the expectation that the Senior Product Support Engineer will support company sites and suppliers on-site as needed. The schedule is flexible rather than based on a fixed number of designated remote days. Because this role supports teams and suppliers internationally, occasional evening meetings with Asia-based teams and suppliers may be required.
