About Us

Mayne Transportation is dedicated to providing safe, reliable transportation for special needs

and McKinney-Vento students throughout the Greater Columbus area. We partner with school

districts and agencies to ensure every student arrives safely and on time.

We're seeking an organized, customer-focused Transportation Router/Dispatcher to join our

operations team. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy solving logistical challenges,

Overview

The Router/Dispatcher is responsible for planning and managing daily transportation routes,

assigning drivers, monitoring route performance, and serving as a communication link between

drivers, schools, parents, and company leadership.

Success in this role requires excellent organizational skills, sound judgment, strong

communication, and the ability to quickly respond to changing transportation needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Route Planning & Scheduling

● Develop, evaluate, and update daily routes to maximize efficiency, reduce ride times,

and minimize costs.

● Adjust routes for new student enrollment, compliance, safety or other factors.

● Coordinate transportation logistics for field trips or special events.

2. Daily Operations & Dispatch

● Serve as the central communication hub for drivers.

● Manage and communicate the day-to-day route changes and respond immediately to

emergencies, traffic delays, or mechanical breakdowns.

● Ensure all regular routes have adequate coverage; coordinate substitute drivers or cover

routes when necessary.

● Participate in the hiring, training and certification process of drivers.

● Partner with the Fleet Manager on vehicle maintenance and administrative tasks.

● Support continuous improvement of transportation operations.

● Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall operation of the company.

Qualifications and Requirements

● Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; Post-secondary

degree or training preferred. Minimum of 1 year of experience in transportation, routing,

or logistics/dispatch.

● Technical Skills: Proficiency in using GPS tracking systems. Competent in using

computers and related technology. Must be proficient in use of Google Office Suite and

Microsoft Excel. SharePoint experience preferred.

● Skills: Ability to multitask and make quick, logical decisions in a high-pressure

environment. Excellent verbal communication and conflict resolution skills. Ability to work

closely with others in a collaborative team environment. Perform all essential duties with

minimal supervision.

● Certification/Licensing: Does not require a CDL. Ohio Motor Van Driver certification is

a plus.
