Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, motivated Tire & Automotive/Light Truck Technician to join our service team. This position is responsible for performing professional tire services, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs on passenger cars, SUVs, vans, and light trucks.
The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, works safely and efficiently, and understands the importance of providing excellent customer service. Experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates a strong work ethic and desire to learn.
Primary Responsibilities
Tire Technician Duties
- Mount, dismount, balance, and rotate tires on passenger vehicles and light trucks.
- Repair punctured tires when appropriate and according to safety standards.
- Inspect tires for wear, damage, uneven tread wear, and other safety concerns.
- Perform tire pressure checks and adjustments.
- Perform tire inspections and recommend replacement when necessary.
- Install and service TPMS sensors and perform TPMS relearn procedures.
- Perform wheel changes and inspect wheels for damage.
- Properly torque wheels using manufacturer specifications.
- Perform tire-related services accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain clean, organized tire and service areas.
- Safely handle and store tires, wheels, and shop equipment.
Automotive/Light Truck Technician Duties
- Perform routine maintenance including oil and filter changes, fluid services, air filters, belts, wipers, and other preventative maintenance.
- Inspect brake systems and replace brake pads, rotors, drums, and related components as needed.
- Perform suspension and steering inspections and repairs.
- Inspect and service shocks, struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, and related components.
- Perform battery testing and replacement.
- Diagnose and repair basic electrical and starting/charging system concerns.
- Perform vehicle inspections and identify needed repairs.
- Conduct basic diagnostic testing using appropriate scan tools and equipment.
- Perform alignments or assist with alignment services, depending on experience and shop requirements.
- Service passenger vehicles, SUVs, vans, and light-duty trucks.
- Follow manufacturer specifications and established repair procedures.
- Properly document work performed and communicate additional repair needs to management or service advisors.
Safety & Quality Responsibilities
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA/shop safety practices.
- Use lifts, tire machines, balancing equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely.
- Follow proper vehicle lifting and support procedures.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Verify repairs are completed correctly before returning vehicles to customers.
- Properly torque wheels and other critical components to specification.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or potential vehicle safety concerns immediately.
- Protect customer vehicles from damage while performing repairs.
Customer Service Responsibilities
- Treat customers and their vehicles with professionalism and respect.
- Clearly communicate vehicle condition and recommended repairs to management or service advisors.
- Provide honest recommendations based on the actual condition of the vehicle.
- Help create a positive customer experience through quality workmanship and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Previous tire or automotive repair experience preferred.
- Experience working on passenger vehicles and light trucks preferred.
- Basic understanding of automotive systems and components.
- Ability to safely operate tire-changing and wheel-balancing equipment.
- Ability to use common automotive hand and power tools.
- Basic diagnostic ability is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Valid driver’s license preferred/required.
- Ability to lift and carry tires and automotive components and perform physical work throughout the workday.
- Willingness to learn new equipment, technology, and repair procedures.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in any of the following are especially encouraged to apply:
- Tire mounting and balancing
- TPMS service
- Wheel alignment
- Brake repair
- Suspension and steering repair
- Oil and preventative maintenance services
- Diagnostics
- Light truck/Commercial truck mechanical repair
- ASE certifications
- State inspection experience, where applicable

Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Lift and move tires, wheels, parts, and equipment.
- Safely operate automotive lifts and shop equipment.
- Work in a fast-paced automotive shop environment.
- Work indoors and outdoors and in varying temperatures as required.
