R&D Chemist | Formulation & Product Development | GMP Manufacturing

We are seeking an R&D Chemist to support the development of new products from initial formulation and laboratory testing through validation, scale-up, and plant trials within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on research and development position combining formulation chemistry, laboratory testing, method validation, technical documentation, microbiological support, and manufacturing scale-up.
The ideal candidate has a chemistry or related scientific background, enjoys hands-on laboratory work, and is interested in seeing products progress beyond the lab into real-world manufacturing.
What You'll Do
Product Development & Formulation
- Support the development of new product formulations
- Convert product concepts into physical laboratory samples
- Prepare laboratory solutions, reagents, and experimental batches
- Perform routine chemical testing on products under development
- Evaluate formulations and document experimental results and observations
- Support formulation modifications based on testing and trial results
- Assist with product scale-up from laboratory development to manufacturing
- Participate in batching and filling-line trials
- Support plant trials for new and modified products
Laboratory Testing & Validation
- Perform chemical testing to support product development
- Write and execute method validation studies
- Support chromatography-related testing and analysis
- Compile and analyze R&D test data
- Maintain complete and accurate laboratory notebooks
- Document procedures, observations, results, and conclusions
- Coordinate chemical samples for testing by outside laboratories
Microbiology Support
Depending on experience, responsibilities may include:
- Supporting microbiological testing related to product development
- Assisting with microbiological investigations
- Coordinating microbiological samples with outside laboratories
- Supporting aseptic practices and contamination-control activities
- Assisting with environmental monitoring or bioburden investigations
Previous microbiology experience is beneficial but not required.
GMP & Manufacturing Support
- Follow GMP/cGMP requirements and established documentation procedures
- Maintain accurate and traceable R&D records
- Support cleaning and sanitization procedure development
- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment
- Support cleaning of production equipment following R&D use
- Work closely with manufacturing teams during batching, filling, and plant trials
- Follow established quality, safety, sanitation, and PPE requirements
What We're Looking For
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field
- Previous experience working within a chemical laboratory
- Laboratory experience within a manufacturing environment is highly desirable
- Experience with product formulation or product development
- Knowledge of chromatography or analytical chemistry techniques
- Experience developing or executing method validations
- Strong laboratory documentation and data-recording skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Work Environment
This position works across laboratory, manufacturing/production, and office environments.
The role requires compliance with established safety, quality, GMP, sanitation, and PPE requirements. Candidates should be comfortable entering production areas and participating in hands-on plant trials, including batching and filling activities.
Physical activities may include standing, walking, climbing stairs, accessing production equipment, and connecting or disconnecting hoses during laboratory and manufacturing activities.
