Full Job Description

1099 Independent Contractor

Location: Pathway Healthcare Office

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide high-quality psychiatric and medication management services as an Independent Contractor (1099). This opportunity is ideal for a clinician seeking flexibility while partnering with a mission-driven organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals experiencing mental health and substance use disorders.

As an Independent Contractor, you will provide evidence-based psychiatric care while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team in a supportive outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

As an Independent Contractor, you will:

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
Diagnose and treat patients with psychiatric and substance use disorders.
Develop individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices.
Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychiatric medications within the scope of your licensure and DEA registration.
Order, review, and interpret diagnostic and laboratory testing as clinically appropriate.
Educate patients regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and recovery goals.
Provide medication management and follow-up care.
Collaborate with therapists, physicians, and other members of the treatment team to coordinate patient care.
Document patient encounters accurately and timely within the electronic medical record.
Maintain compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality requirements.
Exercise independent clinical judgment while adhering to applicable regulatory and professional standards.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must possess:

Current Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification.
Active Nurse Practitioner license in good standing in the state of practice.
Current DEA registration with authority to prescribe controlled substances, as permitted by law.
National certification as a PMHNP.
Experience in behavioral health, addiction medicine, Office-Based Opioid Treatment (OBOT), primary care, or community health is preferred.
Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills.

Independent Contractor Requirements

Qualified contractors must:

Maintain an unrestricted professional license in the applicable state(s).
Maintain an active DEA registration.
Maintain professional liability (malpractice) insurance.
Maintain all required certifications and continuing education.
Possess an active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Complete all required credentialing and enrollment documentation.
Execute an Independent Contractor Agreement and Business Associate Agreement (BAA), as applicable.
Meet all documentation, compliance, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements established by Pathway Healthcare and applicable governing agencies.
