Position: Parts Manager

Department: Parts & Service

Reports To: COO

FLSA Status: Exempt / Full-Time

Position Summary

The Parts Manager at Bus Service, Inc. (BSI) plays a critical role in supporting BSI’s mission as a full-service adaptive mobility vehicle sales and service provider. BSI serves transit authorities, paratransit operators, municipal fleets, and private fleet customers — delivering comprehensive fleet lifecycle solutions including preventive maintenance, ADA system service, DOT compliance, and capital planning. This role ensures the right parts are available at the right time to minimize vehicle downtime, with particular emphasis on specialized components unique to adaptive and accessible vehicle platforms. The Parts Manager is central to BSI’s ability to deliver on its promise as a trusted, single-source fleet partner.

Key Responsibilities

Manage procurement and inventory of bus and adaptive vehicle parts across all BSI-supported makes and models, maintaining optimal stocking levels for high-demand and ADA-specific components
Source parts from OEM suppliers, approved aftermarket vendors, and transit-specific distributors; manage cores, warranty returns, and obsolete parts
Achieve departmental budget targets for parts sales, gross profit, and expense control; report monthly on financial performance
Coordinate closely with BSI technicians and service advisors to stage and deliver parts efficiently, prioritizing time-sensitive repairs
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure competitive pricing and lead times; resolve backorder and delivery issues promptly
Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise parts department staff; foster a safe, organized, and productive work environment
Maintain accurate records in BSI’s fleet/parts management system and ensure compliance with DOT regulations and BSI internal policies

Qualifications

Parts management experience preferred
Strong knowledge of bus systems including engines, transmissions, HVAC, brakes, ADA lift/ramp components, and electrical systems
Experience with fleet or parts management software
Proven ability to manage inventory, control costs, and meet budgetary goals
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
ASE certification or heavy-duty parts training preferred
