What you'll do:
The Enterprise Shared Solutions Security & Infrastructure Operations team plays a vital role in shaping technology. The IT Application Security & Infrastructure Operations Apprentice will support the Operations team while developing foundational technical skills in systems administration, operational automation, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, & technical documentation. This position provides hands-on experience with maintaining system reliability, supporting security compliance initiatives, automating administrative tasks, & improving operational processes through documentation & infrastructure management.
Cybersecurity, Risk Management & Compliance Support
Use native cloud computing services tools to monitor environments to review user access logs & assist in identifying security concerns.
Support security monitoring, vulnerability assessments, compliance activities, & remediation of identified risks.
Support audit preparation by gathering configuration & security documentation.
Operational Automation Process Improvement & Scripting
Apply scripting to automate routine administrative tasks.
Assist in identifying manual operational processes that can be improved through automation.
Develop & maintain basic automation scripts under guidance.
Document automated processes & scripting procedures.
Documentation & Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Infrastructure Documentation & Asset Management
Document server inventories & dependencies.
Maintain X.509 certificate inventory including expiration dates, CAs, binding locations, & owners.
Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
1 course or 2 months experience in Information Systems/Information Technology, or a related field including but not limited to: Software Engineering/Development, Data Analytics/Business Intelligence, Database Administration, Network, IT Security and Help Desk/Customer Support
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Pay Information:
Unless required by legislation or union contract, the starting salary is step 1 of the salary range associated with this position. New hires advance to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Based on collective bargaining and legislative activity, there may be cost of living increases awarded annually. Additional longevity supplements begin after 5 years.
Location Requirements:
DAS’s core hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., however, daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across DAS divisions. Employees may begin as early as 7 a.m. and as late as 9 a.m., based on supervisory approval. This position performs work on-site daily at DAS’s office space.

Travel required, as needed. Must provide own transportation or in order to operate a state vehicle, you must have a valid driver’s license.
Selection devices such as a structured interview, proficiency instrument, and/or assessment may be required for this position. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency with a passing score of applicable selection device to be considered for this position. Regardless of a passing or failing score, all results will be maintained for 6 months. Applicant with a passing score will be retained and utilized for a 6-month period. Applicant with a failing score in the same position may not re-take the same selection device for a 6-month period.
