Full Job Description

The Village of Commercial Point is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Detective. Commercial Point is one of the fastest growing communities in the state and we are welcoming qualified applicants to join our family of officers. Working in a close-knit agency will allow you to interact with your fellow officers, departmental leadership and the community in a positive manner not typically found at a larger department. Tasks completed daily by our team include the following: community engagement, proactive patrol, traffic safety, criminal investigation and apprehension, emergency response to critical incidents, ongoing training and other duties.

Primary functions for this position will be to review incident and offense reports and to screen for details and determine whether there needs to be further investigation and to file criminal charges. Additional will include: grand jury case preparation and testimony, evidence collection and management, interviewing of witnesses and suspects, working with other local agencies in task force operations, assist with administration duties, on call for crime scene processing, assist patrol when needed when needed, respond to critical incidents, and other assigned duties. Applicants are required to have a current OPOTC peace officer certification, five (5) years plus of full-time law enforcement experience, background in crime scene processing, photography, interview and interrogation and experience in property and evidence management.
