Position will be located in Colville, WA and will support operations for two manufacturing facilities.
The company is seeking a detail oriented Electrical Controls Designer to join our engineering team. Whether you have formal SolidWorks training or simply possess strong hands-on electrical/mechanical skills and a drive to learn, we will train the right candidate. This position is full-time, non-exempt, $22.13/hr - $31.63/hr D.O.E. Compensation includes medical/dental/vision insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, 401(k) plan with employer matching contribution, life insurance, employee assistance program, and training opportunities. Regular shifts are Monday – Friday with overtime as needed. Day shift hours are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm and swing shift hours are 2:15 pm to 10:45 pm.
Responsibilities Include:
- Review and analyze specifications for electrical controls applications and collect information to support design decisions.
- Use SolidWorks to generate detailed designs for electrical controls applications.
- Electrical controls designs may consist of standard ladder logic controls, PLCs, VFDs, and BMS communication systems.
- Detail designs will include electrical layout drawings as well as physical component layouts in panels and assemblies.
- Design duties to include component selection and specification in accordance with applicable standards.
- Apply National Electrical Code (NEC) and UL 508A standards to ensure panel designs meet safety and certification requirements.
- Assist with production engineering duties on projects of various electrical and mechanical complexity.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Associate Degree in CAD, Electrical Design, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
We will train you on:
- SolidWorks Electrical / 3D CAD practices specific to panel design.
- UL 508A (Standards for Industrial Control Panels).
- NEC & NFPA 70E electrical safety and installation codes.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze specifications, weigh design alternatives, and develop efficient electrical solutions.
- Precision/Detail Oriented: Strong focus on schematic accuracy, component clearances, and wire labeling standards.
- Collaborative Communication: Strong active listening and teamwork skills to coordinate effectively with engineers, production, purchasing, and quality control teams.
