The State of New Hampshire, Judicial Branch, Administrative Office of the Courts, has a full-time vacancy for Public Information Coordinator. This position is assigned to a 9 step pay scale. Hiring typically occurs within steps 1-5, depending on education and experience. Please submit a resume and cover letter along with your application.

Summary: The Public Information Coordinator assists the Communications Manager in managing communications, public information and publications for the New Hampshire Judicial Branch (NHJB). The position ensures transparency, accuracy, and timely dissemination of information while upholding the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary. The employee in this position may be required to travel during the regular course of business and is subject to transfer or reassignment at the discretion of the Director of the Administrative Office of the Courts. The position is subject to sufficient and continued funding by the Legislature.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, government affairs, media, or related field and five (5) years of experience in communications, public or media relations, journalism, news writing, news production, or related field. Any combination of education and experience that provides the requisite skills necessary for the position.

Strong news sense and news judgement. Experience with public communications involving government, preferably involving the public sector.

Knowledge of the role of courts and the Judicial Branch in New Hampshire state government, as well as knowledge of the interaction of the Judicial, Legislative and Executive branches of government.

Adept at use of social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of State of New Hampshire’s statutes, rules and administrative orders, policies and procedures, applicable Federal rules and requirements.

Significant skill in clear writing for the lay public.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Policies, operations, and activities of the NHJB.

Procedures and policies, legal documents, laws and legal factors.

Video/audio editing, photography and production skills.

PowerPoint and other communications software.

Use of social media.

365 and Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Data gathering and compilation.

Decision-making.

Organization and prioritization.

The development of technological solutions.

Be a good, trusted team player in the Communications Office of the NHJB.

Meet schedules and deadlines of the work.

Perform a variety of duties, changing from one task to another of a different nature.

Express ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with colleagues, the media, associates and representatives of other Federal and State Agencies, courts, and the general public.

Maintain confidentiality.

Other Requirements:

Successful completion of a background check, including a criminal records check.

Responsibilities: Assists the NHJB Communications Manager in drafting official statements, press releases, and media responses to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent messaging. Drafts and participates in internal NHJB messaging and communications, including email messages, presentations and webinars. Responds to media inquiries by gathering relevant information and coordinating with appropriate sources.

Utilizes a variety of computer peripherals and graphic design software to produce multi-media digital content and leverages multiple channels, including social media platforms, media wire services and other news outlets, to disseminate graphics, complex artwork, photographs, maps, videos, and illustrative images, ensuring broad reach, effective communication and adherence to NHJB standards.

Develops and maintains the public social media calendar and assists in managing official NHJB accounts on platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram, ensuring consistent and effective online communications.

Assists Communications Manager and Website Coordinator to maintain internal and external NHJB websites.

Recommends appropriate communication formats and distribution channels based on deadlines, reproduction requirements, and audience needs. Recommends and integrates visual materials to enhance clarity and impact for targeted audiences, and provides layout and design support for NHJB newsletters, reports, and other internal and external publications.

Provides onsite media coordination for high-profile cases and special court events, managing logistics and publicity. Assists the Communications Manager in developing and implementing strategies for addressing sensitive issues publicly and promoting positive public and media attention.

Designs and produces digital, video, audio and print materials, including manuals, pamphlets, handbooks, produced videos and audio podcasts using professional production, publishing and graphic design software in accordance with NHJB branding guidelines. Incorporates photographs, illustrations, and other visual assets to create clear, engaging, and visually compelling content across print, video, and digital platforms.

Provides audio and video production support for conferences, meetings, and other events, including recording and maintaining digital video logs for internal use when public release is not required and develops, writes and edits short articles and video content to support NHJB communications and outreach efforts.
