Crown Town Landscapes is looking for a responsible hardscapes-focused install superintendent to lead our high-end installations. You will represent our company, and need to provide excellent landscape work.
Reports to: Operations Manager
Oversees: Dedicated Install Crew, supports other install leads as needed
Works Closely With: Install PM, Designers, Design Support Specialist, Procurement/Yard Team
Status: Full-Time / Field Leadership Role
Primary Focus: Large weekly projects with hardscape elements; field communication and execution
1. Role Description
The Crew One Lead functions as the senior field leader for the installation department—operating similarly to a jobsite superintendent. This role is responsible for leading complex install projects, coordinating with the Ops Manager, ensuring crews are properly mobilized each day, maintaining quality standards, and closing the communication loop between field operations and leadership.
This role supports Crown Town’s install division by:
● Ensuring daily readiness and launch efficiency
● Leading large, complex, or hardscape-heavy projects
● Serving as the primary field communication point for the Ops Manager
● Upholding Crown Town installation craftsmanship and standards
● Capturing and relaying accurate jobsite documentation every day
● Supporting throughput, efficiency, and overall jobsite organization
The Crew One Lead is the anchor for installation execution, field leadership, and communication.
2. Core Responsibilities
A. Daily Crew Leadership & Jobsite Management
● Lead Crew 1 on large or complex install projects, especially those with hardscape elements
● Delegate tasks and sequence work to maintain efficient production
● Ensure crew members understand project plans, milestones, and quality expectations
● Identify jobsite obstacles early and communicate with the Ops Manager
● Maintain a clean, professional jobsite
● Model leadership, communication, safety, and craftsmanship standards
B. Morning Launch & Warehouse Readiness (Key Responsibility)
● Ensure Crews leaves the warehouse on time, fully loaded, and organized each morning
● Oversee loading of tools, materials, and equipment
● Confirm POs, material lists, and design details before departure
● Coordinate with Design Support Specialist and Yard Team to resolve missing items
● Support other leads in morning mobilization when needed
● Act as Ops Manager’s point person for daily operational launch consistency
C. Execution of Hardscape & Large Install Projects
● Lead installation of patios, walkways, retaining walls, steps, grading, drainage, and other technical scopes
● Interpret construction drawings, measurements, slopes, and layout details
● Verify compaction, base prep, elevations, and craftsmanship align with standards
● Sequence work across hardscape and softscape tasks to maximize efficiency
● Work closely with the Ops Manager to maintain timelines and production goals
D. Field Communication & Reporting
● Serve as the primary communication link between the Ops Manager and install teams
● Relay updates, production notes, material needs, and jobsite issues throughout the day
● Maintain professional communication with designers, PMs, and other leads
● Address onsite client questions when appropriate and escalate when needed
E. End-of-Day Documentation (Key Responsibility)
● Record end-of-day video updates summarizing progress, remaining tasks, material needs, and issues
● Submit photos, written notes, and updates in the designated system daily
● Provide Ops Manager with clear, usable information without requiring daily site visits
F. Quality Control & Standards
● Lead quality control for both hardscape and softscape installation
● Conduct mid-day and end-of-day checks to ensure work meets Crown Town standards
● Verify plant installation, spacing, soil prep, and finish details are correct
● Address deficiencies proactively and coach crew members on improvements
● Ensure readiness for designer or Ops Manager walkthroughs
G. Coordination With Designers & Support Teams
● Clarify design details or material questions with designers and DSS
● Communicate field discrepancies for quick resolution
● Support designers during mid-project visits or layout confirmation
● Ensure design intent is executed accurately in the field
H. Material, Tools & Equipment Management
● Ensure all tools and equipment required for the job are onsite and functional
● Report shortages or equipment failures immediately
● Maintain organized storage of tools in trucks/trailers and on the jobsite
● Reduce downtime by anticipating material and equipment needs
I. Safety & Compliance
● Enforce Crown Town jobsite safety standards and PPE requirements
● Conduct informal safety reminders and maintain situational awareness
● Report incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions immediately
● Maintain safe operation of trucks, trailers, and machinery
J. Training & Crew Development
● Mentor crew members and provide hands-on instruction in installation practices
● Develop hardscape skills within the team and support advancement of future leads
● Support improvement of other install leads by sharing best practices
● Communicate training needs and skill gaps to the Ops Manager
3. What the Crew One Lead Is Not Responsible For
To maintain clarity and prevent role overlap, the Crew One Lead is not responsible for:
Scheduling & Planning
● Creating the master install schedule
● Determining weekly project sequencing
● Forecasting labor or capacity
These belong to the Ops Manager / Install PM.
Change Orders & Client Commitments
● Pricing, approving, or modifying scopes
● Handling billing questions or formal client communication
Escalate to Ops Manager, Designer, or CSM.
Job Costing & Budget Ownership
● Building job budgets
● Managing gross margins
● Tracking financial performance beyond field data
Owned by Ops Manager.
Hiring, Firing, & Performance Management
● Making final employment decisions
● Conducting formal reviews
● Install Super provides feedback; Ops Manager owns decisions.
Procurement & Vendor Management
● Issuing POs or managing vendor relationships
● Ordering materials beyond daily field requests
● Owned by Ops Manager, DSS, or Yard Manager.
Equipment/Fleet Maintenance Oversight
● Scheduling repairs or preventive maintenance
● Purchasing new equipment
Install Super ensures readiness but does not manage the fleet program.
Administrative Work
● Completing office paperwork other than daily reports, notes, and end-of-day documentation

● Hardscape and complex installs are completed with high craftsmanship and minimal rework
● Daily videos, notes, and communication are consistent and reliable
● Ops Manager is well-informed without needing daily site visits

● Production bottlenecks decrease through proactive communication
● Projects flow smoothly from design to completion
● Jobs are consistently completed on time and on budget
Responsibilities
- Lead an install crew for complex, in-depth landscaping projects that include hardscapes, irrigation, lighting, and plant material
- Follow instructions from installation production manager
- Load, prepare, inspect and operate equipment
Skills
- 2-3 years of proven working experience with hardscapes and irrigation
- Detailed knowledge of planting techniques and best practices
- Ability to operate equipment
- Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally
- Valid driver’s license
- Good driving record with no traffic violations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
