Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) — Interventional Pain & Human Performance

THIS IS NOT A TRADITIONAL RAD TECH ROLE

Most imaging jobs put you in a dark room, hand you a worklist, and measure you by throughput. This is the opposite of that.

We are a new interventional pain and human performance practice built around a small, senior clinical team. You will not be one of forty techs rotating through a department. You will be the imaging professional in the building, working shoulder to shoulder with the physician at the table during live fluoroscopic spine procedures.

If you have spent the last few years wanting more ownership, more autonomy, and more actual medicine than a hospital rotation gives you, this is that job.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Procedural fluoroscopy (the core of the role). Live C-arm imaging for spine and joint interventions: epidural steroid injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablation, and joint and tendon injections. You will be running the C-arm in real time next to the physician, managing sterile field, positioning for optimal obliques, and anticipating the next view before it is asked for. This is the highest-skill imaging work in outpatient medicine and it is the majority of what you will do.

Diagnostic radiography. Musculoskeletal and orthopedic plain film, including spine, extremity, and weight-bearing series, acquired and processed in house so patients are imaged and treated in a single visit.

Body composition and bone density (planned). DEXA for bone density and for performance-side body composition analysis as we build out the human performance program.

Procedural support and room turnover. The standard clinical work that keeps a procedure day moving: patient prep and positioning, sterile setup and takedown, table turnover, dressings, and getting the next room ready while the physician moves between patients. Nothing here will be unfamiliar to a technologist who has worked a busy procedure suite.

Wearing a second hat when the schedule is light. We are a growth-stage practice, and we are honest about what that means. On days without a full procedural or imaging schedule, you will pitch in elsewhere in the office. That flexibility is part of the job, and it is a meaningful part of why this role pays where it does. We would rather pay well above market for one excellent person who moves between roles than staff around a rigid job description.

Building the department. You are early. Imaging protocols, radiation safety program, equipment workflow, and QA are yours to shape rather than inherit. As we add modalities and locations, the person in this seat is the natural lead.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

ARRT (R) certification and a Connecticut radiographer license, or license-eligible
Minimum 2 years post-certification experience; 5+ years strongly preferred
Hands-on C-arm and fluoroscopy experience. Pain management, orthopedic, or surgical suite background is ideal.
Comfort in a sterile procedural environment and genuine attention to radiation safety and ALARA practice
Real warmth with patients. Our patients are in pain, often after being processed through several other practices. How they are treated in this office is the product.
Interest in where medicine is going: regenerative therapies, recovery modalities, performance physiology. You do not need experience in it. You need curiosity about it.

COMPENSATION

$50–$65 per hour, plus quarterly performance bonus.

This range is intentionally at the top of the Fairfield County market. Where you land in it depends on years of experience, depth of fluoroscopy background, and additional certifications. The upper end is real and reserved for a technologist who can run the C-arm at a high level from day one.

TIMING

Westport Pain & Performance opens in July 2027, and we are beginning conversations now. We are doing this deliberately. The person who takes this role is the first clinical hire, and we would rather spend a year finding the right technologist than fill the seat in three weeks.
