As we expand into HVAC services, we are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Comfort Advisor to help homeowners find the right heating and cooling solutions for their homes.
This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed professional with HVAC knowledge who wants to grow with an established local company entering a new service division. Plumbing experience is a strong bonus and will be valuable as we continue serving customers with both plumbing and HVAC solutions.
Position Summary
The Comfort Advisor is responsible for meeting with residential customers, evaluating their heating and cooling needs, presenting system options, and helping them choose the best HVAC solutions for their home, comfort, and budget.
This role requires strong communication skills, technical understanding, professionalism, and the ability to build trust with homeowners. The ideal candidate is licensed, knowledgeable, and capable of educating customers while representing Farmington Valley Plumbing with honesty and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet with homeowners to assess HVAC needs, comfort concerns, equipment issues, and replacement opportunities.
- Perform in-home consultations for heating, air conditioning, heat pump, indoor air quality, and system replacement solutions.
- Inspect existing HVAC equipment, ductwork, system layout, and customer concerns to recommend appropriate options.
- Prepare and present clear, professional proposals to customers.
- Explain system options, efficiency ratings, warranties, financing options, rebates, and installation expectations.
- Follow up with customers after consultations to answer questions and help close sales.
- Coordinate with installers, service technicians, dispatch, and office staff to ensure smooth project handoff.
- Maintain accurate customer notes, estimates, job details, and follow-up activity in company software.
- Build strong relationships with customers and encourage referrals, reviews, and repeat business.
- Stay up to date on HVAC products, equipment, code requirements, financing programs, rebates, and industry best practices.
- Represent the company professionally in appearance, communication, and customer service.
Required Qualifications
- Must hold a valid applicable state trade license.
- HVAC experience is required.
- Basic understanding of residential heating and cooling systems.
- Ability to assess customer comfort needs and recommend proper HVAC solutions.
- Ability to explain technical information in a simple, customer-friendly way.
- Strong communication, listening, and presentation skills.
- Professional, trustworthy, and customer-focused attitude.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage leads, appointments, and follow-ups.
- Comfortable using tablets, phones, CRM software, estimating tools, and email.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening, if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Plumbing experience is a bonus.
- Prior Comfort Advisor or in-home sales experience preferred.
- Experience with furnaces, boilers, central air, heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, and indoor air quality products.
- Experience working for a residential service company.
- Familiarity with financing options and good-better-best sales presentations.
- Knowledge of Connecticut residential HVAC needs and local rebate programs.
