Job Title: Medicolegal Death Investigator I

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements
- High school diploma required
- College degree required; bachelor’s preferred and/or Associate’s plus 1-5 yrs death investigation experience
- Certification through the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators required within 2 years of hire
Ability to work in person - not remote.
Primary Job Duties
- Respond to scenes, photograph, and document postmortem findings on/around the body at the scene; take death reports from law enforcement and hospitals
- Obtain information (in person +/- telephonically) from family members or other pertinent individuals to assist with death investigation
- Respond to Department phone line 24/7 while on-call (on-call schedule to be discussed during interview process)
- Obtain hospital, police, and Justice of the Peace records and other documents and/or specimens from hospitals pertaining to death investigation
- Prepares reports and inputs data for all death scene investigations prior to examination of body/document and record property and evidentiary items at scene
- Testify in court regarding investigative findings from the death scenes
- Assist with answering phone calls, obtaining follow-up documentation, and other office duties as needed
**After receiving a conditional offer of employment, applicant must pass a drug screen (1/2 cost = $20.00, responsibility of applicant) and may need a physical agility test (1/2 cost = $22.50, responsibility of applicant) before becoming an employee of Montgomery County.
