RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adheres to all federal, state and local laws regarding health, safety and employment.
- Assists in project work: grades and prepares soil bases, lays sod and sprigs.
- Attend all relevant operational meetings.
- Attend to special projects and additional duties as requested by Senior Horticulture & Landscape Manager.
- Be a Bluejack National Landscaping ambassador at all times.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner and always maintain a professional image.
- Dig trenches as directed.
- Drives utility vehicles or other vehicles as needed to complete tasks.
- Follow environmental best practices and ensure the garden remains tidy and inviting.
- Inform supervisor of any work discrepancies or equipment malfunctions.
- Install and maintain seasonal plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees.
- Irrigate areas as instructed.
- Maintain good customer relations.
- Maintain pathways, borders, and outdoor features such as planters, beds, and irrigation systems.
- Manage composting and soil improvement efforts.
- Monitor plant health and identify signs of pests, disease, or nutrient deficiencies.
- Mow, edge, and maintain lawns and grass areas.
- Must be able to lift bags of up to 50 pounds.
- Observe and report any turf, landscape and equipment problems.
- Operate all powered maintenance equipment safely, proficiently, and with awareness of golfer safety.
- Operate and maintain gardening tools and equipment safely (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers).
- Operates mowers and string trimmers in trimming around trees, fence lines, lake banks, bed edges and hillsides.
- Perform routine garden maintenance, including planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, watering, and fertilizing.
- Perform tasks following Bluejack National high level of standards as outlined in the Training Manual and Operating Standards Manual.
- Perform work with due regard to safety of self and fellow employees while exercising proper care and protection of company property.
- Performs other duties as directed by Crew Foreman.
- Performs other duties as directed by Senior Horticulture & Landscape Manager.
- Remove trash to provide a clean area.
- Support Development, Club Customs, Culture and Rules.
- Uses hand tools such as rakes, shovels, blowers, etc.
- Washes and returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility and cleans the maintenance areas.
- At the beginning of each day:
o Check levels of oil and fuel, bringing them up to proper level if necessary.
o Perform walk-around inspection of any other possible defects or fluid leaks.
o Report any problems to Mechanic.
o Make minor adjustments to equipment including testing of hand control levers, buttons and pedals to start and regulate speed of motor.
o Ensure required pressure is attained and that panel gauges and lights are functioning properly.
o Notify supervisor of any malfunctions.
o Wash, add fuel and lubricate equipment.
o Perform walk-around inspection of equipment looking for any damage that may have occurred, or excessive wear that will need repair.
o Report any findings to the Mechanic or Mechanic Supervisor.
- Become knowledgeable about the correct cutting heights.
- Mow designated areas with proper mower as directed.
- All other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Experience:
- High Scholl diploma preferred but not required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Proven skills with the ability to work independently as well as with a team.
- Working knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and equipment.
- Experience working in a garden or farm planting and harvesting produce.
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to educate members and guests on the garden, plants, cultural practices, maintenance, and all duties performed.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to function under pressure, set priorities and adjust to changing conditions
- Ability to speak English
- Ability to speak some Spanish preferred.
- Ability to stand on feet for extended period of time.
- Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time in various weather conditions.
- Ability to identify plant and diagnose common plant issues.

- Available for 24-hour re-call in emergency situations.

Approximate schedule and hours:
- 40-45 hours or more per week. Weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Schedule is flexible as business dictates.
