Strategic Account Director – Market Development

Position Summary

The Strategic Account Director – Market Development is responsible for generating new commercial opportunities by influencing the organizations that shape project decisions across the power generation industry.

Working upstream of traditional sales activity, the role positions IAFD with OEMs, EPCs, Owner's Engineers, engineering consultants, technology partners and other market influencers to create qualified opportunities before customers enter formal procurement.

Success is measured by the quality of opportunities created, market influence established and long-term revenue generated through strategic commercial engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue Generation

Generate qualified commercial opportunities through strategic market engagement.
Develop new routes to market that increase long-term revenue.
Position IAFD earlier in customer buying cycles and project planning.
Expand IAFD's presence across target market segments with measurable growth potential.

Market Influence

Develop commercial access with OEMs, EPCs, Owner's Engineers and engineering consultants that can create future revenue.
Position IAFD as the preferred technical partner within the power generation ecosystem.
Increase specification of IAFD solutions during project development.
Identify alliance opportunities that generate measurable commercial value.

Opportunity Creation

Create opportunities before RFQs or formal procurement events exist.
Influence project development by connecting market needs with IAFD engineering and field service capability.
Generate qualified opportunities that Regional Sales can convert into profitable projects.
Increase revenue potential through earlier engagement in capital and maintenance planning.

Market Intelligence

Identify emerging market trends, investment programs and technology shifts.
Monitor competitor activity, market positioning and specification trends.
Recommend new commercial opportunities based on market access and customer investment signals.
Translate market intelligence into revenue growth strategies for the commercial organization.

Commercial Collaboration

Work closely with the Vice President, Strategic Accounts to align market development activity with revenue priorities.
Coordinate with the Strategic Account Director – Power Generation to connect market influence with customer account strategy.
Support Regional Sales with qualified opportunities, market intelligence and early-stage commercial positioning.
Work with Engineering and Operations to shape commercially viable solutions that can convert into projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred.
7-10 years of commercial experience.
Experience working with OEMs, EPCs, engineering consultants or industrial technology companies preferred.
Experience developing strategic commercial alliances that create measurable commercial value.
Experience influencing complex buying decisions before formal procurement.
Experience opening new markets and creating long-term revenue opportunities.
Strong understanding of industrial project development and commercial buying cycles.
Excellent commercial acumen and Salesforce experience preferred.

Working Conditions

Approximately 50-60% travel.
Combination of customer visits, partner visits, industry conferences, trade shows, engineering offices and home office work.
