Experienced Trauma Therapist

Master’s Level or Higher | Trauma Certification Preferred/Required

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and clinically skilled Trauma Therapist to join our growing behavioral health team. This position is ideal for a licensed master’s-level or doctoral-level clinician with advanced experience treating trauma-related disorders, PTSD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and complex psychosocial stressors.

The Trauma Therapist will provide evidence-based psychotherapy to adolescents and/or adults, depending on licensure, experience, and clinic needs. The ideal candidate is trauma-informed, patient-centered, clinically independent, and comfortable working in a collaborative outpatient setting with psychiatric providers, primary care providers, TMS services, Spravato services, and behavioral health support staff.

This role requires strong diagnostic judgment, ethical documentation practices, and the ability to create a safe, structured therapeutic environment for patients with trauma histories.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care

Provide individual psychotherapy for patients with trauma-related symptoms, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment disorders, and related behavioral health concerns.
Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning.
Develop individualized, measurable, and clinically appropriate treatment plans.
Provide trauma-informed care using evidence-based modalities.
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment interventions as clinically indicated.
Assess risk, safety concerns, suicidal ideation, self-harm, domestic violence, abuse, neglect, and other urgent clinical needs.
Coordinate higher levels of care when clinically necessary.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and ethical standards.

Preferred Clinical Modalities / Experience

Experience or certification in one or more of the following is strongly preferred:

EMDR
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Processing Therapy
Prolonged Exposure Therapy
Somatic or body-based trauma therapy approaches
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Internal Family Systems-informed care
Attachment-based trauma treatment
Complex PTSD treatment
Grief and traumatic loss work

Documentation & Compliance

Complete timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation in the EHR.
Maintain treatment plans, progress notes, safety plans, and discharge summaries as required.
Ensure documentation supports medical necessity and payer requirements.
Follow HIPAA, state licensing regulations, clinic policies, and ethical standards.
Participate in quality improvement, chart review, and clinical coordination processes as needed.

Collaboration & Care Coordination

Collaborate with psychiatric providers, primary care providers, TMS/Spravato teams, and administrative staff.
Communicate clinically relevant updates to treating providers when appropriate and authorized.
Support integrated care planning for patients receiving medication management, TMS, Spravato, or other behavioral health services.
Participate in case consultation and interdisciplinary team meetings as needed.
Assist with referrals to higher levels of care, community resources, or specialty services.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
Active Texas license in good standing, such as LPC, LPC-S, LCSW, LMFT, Psychologist, or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of outpatient therapy experience preferred.
Trauma certification or formal trauma-focused training strongly preferred.
Experience treating PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders.
Strong clinical documentation and treatment planning skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
Comfortable using EHR systems and telehealth platforms when applicable.
