Position Summary
CFC Cares Therapeutic Vocational Training Academy is seeking a highly motivated, flexible, visionary and mission-driven School Administrator / Founding Microschool Lead to help launch and operate our first year of school programming. This individual will play a hands-on leadership role in building the structure, culture, systems, and daily operations of the microschool.
During the first year, this position will require someone who is willing and able to “do it all.” The School Administrator will support school setup, organize daily schedules, teach or facilitate classes, coordinate student activities, assess student progress, communicate with families, support compliance needs, and help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
The ideal candidate is organized, creative, student-centered, comfortable working in a start-up environment, and passionate about helping students thrive in a smaller, personalized educational setting.
Key ResponsibilitiesSchool Leadership and Program Development
- Help develop the first-year structure, policies, procedures, schedules, and routines for the microschool.
- Create a positive school culture rooted in safety, respect, accountability, creativity, and student growth.
- Assist with developing student handbooks, parent expectations, staff procedures, enrollment forms, and daily operating systems.
- Help establish classroom expectations, behavior support systems, attendance procedures, grading practices, and progress-monitoring tools.
- Support the long-term development of CFC Academy as a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, project-based learning environment.
Teaching and Instructional Support
- Teach, facilitate, or coordinate academic classes as needed during the first year.
- Support instruction in core academic areas, life skills, project-based learning, career exploration, and enrichment activities.
- Adapt lessons and learning activities to meet the needs of students with different learning styles and academic levels.
- Provide individualized support to students who need additional academic, behavioral, or emotional guidance.
- Help students build confidence, independence, problem-solving skills, and positive learning habits.
Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring
- Assess student academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional progress on a regular basis.
- Maintain student progress records, attendance logs, grades, work samples, and parent communication notes.
- Create individualized learning goals and monitor progress toward those goals.
- Assist with identifying student strengths, learning gaps, support needs, and appropriate interventions.
- Prepare regular progress updates for parents and leadership.
Activities, Enrichment, and Student Engagement
- Plan and organize school activities, field trips, guest speakers, career days, service projects, student showcases, and enrichment opportunities.
- Coordinate project-based learning experiences connected to real-world skills, trades, entrepreneurship, technology, arts, wellness, and community involvement.
- Support student clubs, leadership opportunities, and positive peer engagement.
- Help create a learning environment that feels engaging, meaningful, and connected to students’ future goals.
Family and Community Communication
- Serve as a primary point of contact for parents and guardians during the first year.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, attendance, behavior, activities, and school updates.
- Support parent orientation, enrollment meetings, student conferences, and family engagement events.
- Build strong, respectful partnerships with families.
- Help connect students and families with internal or external support services when needed.
Operations and Compliance Support
- Assist with maintaining student files, enrollment documents, emergency contact forms, attendance records, incident reports, and required school documentation.
- Help ensure that school operations are organized, safe, and aligned with applicable requirements.
- Coordinate supplies, classroom setup, calendars, daily schedules, transportation planning for activities, and facility needs.
- Support health, safety, emergency preparedness, and student supervision procedures.
- Help create systems that can be expanded as the school grows.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the Executive Director and other CFC staff to build and improve the school model.
- Participate in planning meetings, training, quality improvement activities, and student review meetings.
- Provide feedback on what is working, what needs improvement, and what systems should be developed next.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and supporting future teachers, tutors, mentors, or activity leaders as the program grows.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, psychology, social work, human services, child development, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with middle school and/or high school students.
- Experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, program coordinating, homeschooling or school administration.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in a start-up school environment.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and shift priorities as needed.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Commitment to working with diverse learners, including students who may need smaller classrooms, emotional support, behavioral support, or alternative educational approaches.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching certification, school leadership experience, or microschool/homeschool program experience.
- Experience with project-based learning, alternative education, special education, behavioral health, or trauma-informed education.
- Experience developing curriculum, lesson plans, schedules, student progress reports, or educational programming.
- Experience working with students with ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, trauma histories, behavioral challenges, or learning differences.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Background check clearance required.

- Must be comfortable working in a hands-on, flexible, first-year school environment where responsibilities may change as the program develops.
Performance Expectations for the First Year
By the end of the first year, the School Administrator / Founding Microschool Lead will be expected to help CFC Cares Therapeutic Vocational Training Academy establish:
- A consistent daily school schedule.
- Written classroom and school procedures.
- Student enrollment and file systems.
- Attendance and progress-tracking systems.
- Parent communication routines.
- A basic academic and enrichment calendar.
- Student behavior expectations and support procedures.
- Project-based learning and activity plans.
- Regular progress reports for each student.
- A welcoming, safe, and structured school culture.
Compensation
Compensation will be based on education, experience, credentials, and scope of responsibility.
